Chapter 9

" Jace can you zip me up?" I asked him.

He arranged his tie and helped me zip the dress.

" Thanks." I said kissing him.

" The recital is tonight huh?" He said sitting on the bed.

I nodded.

" Is your brother coming now ?" I asked him.

Jace nodded and looked at his phone. " He should be here any minute now."

I sighed and took a deep breath.

Jace's brother just flew in and he wants to meet me, which is okay but that means that Jace told his family about me and that makes me nervous.

Jace got up and came in front of me.

He put his hand on my cheek.

" You look stunning."

I smiled and he kissed me.

The doorbell rang.

Coda came in the room and pointed at the door.

I chuckled, his bowtie is loose and everything is messed up.

Jace laughed and told me he'll go get the door.

I pulled Coda up and went into his room.

" Today my little man is gonna show his talent, you need to look sharp."

Coda looked serious and put his fist to his heart looking high and mighty.

I chuckled and poked his stomach.

I arranged his clothes and did his hair.

" I have to go check on our guest. See if you got everything ready okay?"

Coda smiled and nodded.

He seemed nervous but at the same time excited.

" You will be amazing sweetheart. You have a talent like no other."

Coda's eyes glossed and he hugged my middle.

I kissed his head and hugged him.

After letting go , I went into the kitchen.

Jace was still at the door , smiling and laughing.

I came from behind him but I had to stop in my tracks.

A guy with dark messy hair and green eyes was at the door.

Someone who shouldn't have appeared in front of me ever again.

Jace turned and saw me.

" Iris , this is -"

" Ace." I finished for him.

I couldn't breath or think.

Ace's eyes went wide and he took a step back.

" Iris?"

Jace looked to me than to him.

" Iris , you know him?"

I heard a door close and small footsteps coming to the front door.

Oh no, please not now.

Coda pulled my hand and smiled at the stranger.

I knelt down near him.

" Mummy has to talk to them alone, how about you go practice one last time?" I tried to smile , but tears were falling down my cheeks.

Coda's small hands wiped the tears , he looked at the stranger and exited the room.

I took a deep breath and turned around.

" Is that your kid?" Ace asked , taking a step inside.

Jace stopped his brother.

" What the hell is going on?" Jace asked , turning back to me.

I shook my head and put my hands on my face.

" How old is he?" Ace asked.

I could hear Jace telling him my kids age.

After a couple of minutes , I took a deep breath and focused back on the men in front of me.

" It's time for the recital , we will speak later." I said turning around.

Suddenly a hand grabbed my wrist but didn't turn me around.

" I can't really remember what happened that day Iris, but I'm pretty sure that I woke up naked in my own bed." Ace whispered.

" I said we will talk about it later Ace." I said firmly.

Ace let go of my hand and I went to check on my son.

Coda was looking down at his hands stuck on the piano.

I went to his side.

" Let's go Coda." I smiled to him.

Coda smiled softly and nodded.

After I grabbed his hand , we walked to the front door , Ace was sitting on the table and Jace was waiting at the door.

They both had the same look in their eye. Total confusion.

Now I know why Jace looked so familiar.

After all his brother was my son's father.
