Abe let out a sigh of relief at the sight of a familiar face, placing his own hand on the other side of the glass. I could feel his mind enter mine and it was a calm feeling to experience again.

"How are you doing?" he asked.

"I've been better, but I feel great knowing you're alright. We kind of thought that you might not make it."

He was silent for a moment, but I could still feel him roaming through my head, stopping momentarily, tilting his head sincerely, "You really thought you were going to lose me?"

I sighed, letting him now feel the true extent of my fears. Abe nearly flinched at the feeling, which led me to pull my hand away, his mind slowly fading away from mine, "Of course I did. Why wouldn't I, when you were practically bleeding out in front of me with two dead agents next to us? If you were human, your wounds would've killed you."

I could feel him trying to reach out to me; a wave of reassurance swept over me. He cleared his throat, "I'm sorry, Vivian. I didn't mean to make you upset. But with the things that I've survived from in the past, I thought that you knew I'd be alright."

I looked back at him, "I know, but I was still worried for you. Manning is going after us more than ever because of the deaths of three agents in one mission that could've been easily prevented."

"I know, I heard," Abe nodded, causing me to look at him with surprise. Oh no, did he overhear Red teasing me? He must've at least heard all the nicknames Red gave him or how he tried to comfort me about Abe's condition.  He continued, "While I couldn't hear exactly everything, I got the gist of your confrontation. I hope that's not how he treats us when he takes over as director."

My shoulders relaxed at the thought that he hadn't overheard some of Red and I's conversation. Or if he did, he was respectful enough to not bring it up. I sighed, "I hope not either."

We didn't say a word for a moment or so, and I listened to the sounds of the equipment hooked up to Abe and the bubbling water in his tank. It almost acted as white noise to me. I let my eyes scan the room, following the patterns across the stone walls and catching sight of a few glass shards that had remained on the floor from earlier. I nearly laughed at the sight of Manning's horrified face and the sound of his scream.

"I know I wasn't out for very long, but did I miss anything else?"

I let my head lean against the glass tank contently, "Well, I'm sure you heard about Clay. He was alive for quite a long time despite his injuries. He had over ten stab wounds if I remember correctly."

"Yeah, I did hear. Losing him is quite unfortunate."

I smiled, sadly, "Also, as of right now, Liz will be staying in the bureau for the weekend."

Abe's head turned to look at me, suddenly, "Liz is back?"

"Yep. John convinced her to come back," I smiled at Abe's excitement.

"That's great to hear. I hope she stops by to talk to me sometime."

"I think she will. She'll probably apologize for how she acted the last time you two talked."

Abe chuckled nervously, "Perhaps. I can already sense that she regrets that encounter."

Suddenly, there was a series of loud bangs that echoed through the hallway, causing Abe and I to jump. My ears kept moving back and forth to listen closely. For a while, silence returned and my concerns faded away. It soon returned with a vengeance when I heard heavy footsteps sprinting down the empty corridor. I turned back to look at Abe, "Can you give me a second?"

Abe nodded so I excused myself out of the room before turning to stare down the long hallway. My eyes flew wide to see Red running, aggressively, at full speed. He shot past me, not seeming to even notice I was there, not saying a word. I raced after him, placing my hand on his shoulder as soon as I managed to keep up, "Red? What's wrong?"

"Did you not see them leave? Are you really that dense?" He growled, stopping in his tracks, causing me to flinch. It was only a few minutes ago that he was treating me like family again, but now he's back to treating me like trash. "Ever since Myers came along, my life has gone straight to hell."

I tilted my head, confused, "What do you mean? All John has been trying to do is be there for you and prove that he's worth being an agent here."

Red gave me an ice-cold glare despite the everlasting flame that burned in his bright yellow eyes, "First, he acts like he can take my job here, trying to impress everyone I care about, acting like my father's pet. Now, he's trying to take my damn girl."

My ear flicked, tail tucking beneath me defensively, "What made you come to such a conclusion? Liz cares about you so much, there's no way John can change that."

His eyes saddened, not being able to look me in the eye, "He managed to convince her to come back while I couldn't, and I just found out that John apparently is taking Liz out on a date. Who does he think he is?"

A giant wave of jealousy and anger emitted from the demon. He turned away from me, pacing over to where the elevator was. I tried to follow him, begging him to not do anything stupid, but he ignored my pleas. The elevator rose upwards and Red soon went out of sight.

Oh no, I fretted, please don't do something you're going to regret, Hellboy.
