Author's note:
Sorry this is late, I did say I wouldn't update regularly but I've been trying to update once a week. This will probably be a lot shorter than previous chapters because I'm writing it during my ballet class and the spelling may be way off because I'm writing on my phone. I've also been in a very boyf riends mood so that's what this chapter is about.
Sincerely Me
Chapter 4
3rd person
"I don't know what to do Connor, it's been two weeks since he last talked to me"
Michael paces up and down Connor's room. Fiddling with the strings on him hoodie.
"Calm down. Just call him"
"He doesn't pick up my calls."
He stops pacing and stares at Connor.
"Or answer my texts."
"Then go to his house and talk to him in person."
"But at that party I went to last week he told me to leave him alone." Michael says dejectedly before continuing his pacing.
"Listen Michael, if you want to stay friends with him you can't listen to him when he tells you to piss off. Just talk to him, sort everything out, get him to kill the squip and start dating."
"I guess, but the dating part will never happen, he's totally in love with Christine."
Michael falls back onto Connor's bed, sighing as he does so. Connor just looks at him, considering how best to cheer him up.
"Okay, for one you've told me about Christine and I'm sure he'll get over her soon. Don't get me wrong, she sounds great but Jeremy clearly doesn't like her as much as he thinks."
"I'm super confused, how can someone think they like someone more than they do?"
"How am I supposed to know, I've never been in a relationship?"
"You're the one who said it."
"Whatever. What I meant is he'll get over her soon, then you swoop in."
"Okay." Michael replies, still slightly confused.
Both boys laps into a contemplative silence. Connor thinking about the guy his sister brought round to the palace six days ago. Michael trying to screw up enough courage to confront Jeremy.
"Okay, I'm going to do it. I'm going to go to Jeremy's house right now and tell him he has to get rid off that squip..." He hesitates "And that I like him."
Jeremy
I hear the door bell ring and rush to get it.Slow down, you don't want to seem too eager.
Man this squip is getting annoying. I slow to a jog and open the door, for a moment I can't see anyone but then I feel I twitch in my brain and I see Michael standing on the door step.
"Look, I know you don't want to talk to me but I have to tell you something."
I just look at him with a blank expression on my face, why wouldn't I want to talk to him? He's the one who hasn't been talking to me, he hasn't talked or even texted me in weeks.
It's called optic nerve blocking, I've been blocking Michael from your field of vision.
I've also deleted all his texts and the 'missed call' notifications
Why would you do that, Michael's my friend.
Michael is a link to Jeremy 1.0, to upgrade you have to be willing to make sacrifices
I don't want to 'sacrifice' Michael, he's my best friend.
Then you can't upgrade
Fine.
Michael doesn't seem to have noticed that I zoned out, he seems preoccupied with something or like he's trying to work out how to say something.
"JeremyYou'remakingabigmistakeusingthatsquipwon'tmakeyoucoolitwillonlygetyouintotroubleandChristineisn'trightforyouandIlikeyouandpleaselistentomeI'monlytryingtohelp." Michael blurts out really quickly.
"I didn't catch a single word of that, can you repeat that, and this time slow down."
"Um... I said You're making a big mistake, using a squip won't make you cool it will only get you into trouble."
"You said more than that."
"The rest doesn't matter."
"Michael, what is it?"
"Well... I also said Christine isn't right for you and that I um... I maybe... I... I like you..."
He stares at me with an expression on his face that clearly shows he's really nervous about what I might say next. I don't really know what to say, My best and only real friend has just confessed that he likes me, I didn't even know he was gay. I guess he does wear that rainbow patch but I thought that was just to say he was an ally or something. I don't want to hurt him, but I like Christine... don't I? I've liked her for years, that's not the sort of thing that changes.
Slam the door in his face
"What! No! Why would I do that?!"
"I... I guess I'll go then."
He turns around and starts walking towards the gate, looking like he's about to burst into tears. Dammit! I didn't mean to say that out loud.
"Michael wait!"
He slowly turns around.
"What?"
"That's not what I meant, I was talking to my squip. You're right, I do need to get rid of it."
You can't do that, I'm helping you
"Shut up!"
"Jeremy?"
"Sorry, squip again. Can you help me get it out? I don't know what to do, plus I don't think it would let me if I tried anything."
"Of course I'll help you but... but I need to know.. um about me liking y-"
I don't know why I do it but I just see his nervous, scared and sad face and something just comes over me. I lean in and cut him off mid word by kissing him.
