Alan's POV

"What do you think they're doing in there?" Edgar asked

"I dunno, talking probably." I retorted

"If he touches her I'm going to drive a stake through his heart, Alan I swear." I laughed and threw a pillow at him.

"I'm serious." He pushed the pillow off of him and stood up. "Where's Sam?"

"I hear someone downstairs, it's probably him." I looked at my brother. "Relax, you get too tense sometimes. It worries me."

He sighed and laid back down. "Fine, but if I hear something I'm barging in there."

"She's grown up now, she doesn't need her older cousin protecting her anymore." I teased.

"Do you remember what happened the last time we slacked off and didn't watch her Alan, do you?" He hissed

"How could I forget ed, but she's 14 and can defend herself now. She's hunted before too, I think she can hold her own." I reminded him.

"I'm sorry. it just that she reminds me of being a kid and sometimes I want it back, I want to be able to run around and play- I don't know-tag again." Edgar sighed. "We grew up too damn fast."

"We do what we have to do, okay?" I tried to calm down. "It's not our fault that David took our parents. It's not our fault that we're In a family full of nut cases. It's not our fault we are the way we are. It's life."

"I know, I know. But promise me that this will be the end, we will kill David and all of this is over." He shook and laid down to sleep.

" We have it in the bag this time, we're one step ahead of them for the first time in how many years." I reassured him. "We can do it. Just don't reveal the real plan to T. Our first job is to defend our family, then hunting."

He nodded, half asleep and drifted off. I decided to sleep too, we needed to get everything ready, the next few days are going to be excruciating and I'm not even sure of half the things we need to do.

Sam's POV

_____________ _______________

I saw T run upstairs with Teddy and it didn't bother me until I heard yelling. I crept back upstairs and peeked into the Frog's room but they were asleep, I had to deal with this on my own. What could they possibly be doing? Why was I so interested? Oh yeah that's right stupid emotions interfere with every god damned thing.

I slowly walked over to the door and peered into the small sliver of light. They were just sitting, and talking. What were they talking about? Shut up and listen, god Sam what are you doing?

"Skin on it?" I heard him say.

"Fine, give me some skin." She laughed. "Did Chris start this hand shake thing?"

"Yes, but stop changing the subject. When did you meet him?" Teddy asked

"A few days ago but he was in my dream the day before. It was so weird. I was running through the woods just at the outer edge of Castle Rock and I saw him." She remembered

He snickered "that reminds me of a joke about a polishman than runs through your bac- never mind, go on."

"Well, I just kept running but he was always there, I could sense him. When I saw him with my cousins I almost screamed." T said "The thing I remembered the most was his blue eyes, they're unmistakable."

"That's just weird." He snickered again. "You like some kid that you barely know."

"I know, don't rub it in. That's why I'm not saying anything, he'll think I'm crazy." I could hear the blush in her voice. "But he's so sweet and clumsy and nervous, it's so cute."

"You're one weird chick. I thought girls liked confidence and mystery, bad boys." He smirked. "Like me."

"You are so conceited, you four eyed piece of shit." She laughed.

"A piece of shit has a thousand eyes" he quoted himself.

"Alright, whatever Mr.One Joke Wonder." She punched him lightly on the shoulder, even I lightly snickered at her joke. "Well hey are you gonna sleep over or head home?"

"Eh my father isn't home so I'll enjoy the empty house." He said, getting up.

Shit, shit, shit. I got up and quietly ran into my room and hid behind my bed. She can't know that I know what she knows, if that makes any sense.

Other than the terror in the back of my throat from the vampire hunt, I feel so ecstatic. She likes me back, someone actually likes me back for once. Damn, what am I going to do. I am the worst at social things. I can barely talk about her without smiling like an idiot. Maybe she'll make the first move, she's a pretty confident girl. I think I'll wait till after all of this vampire stuff has subsided to make my move, because that would only makes things more complicated.

Whatever, I'll sleep on it. Yeah sleep sounds good, it's almost 5 am, I need some sleep. I crawled into bed and shut my eyes, sleeping deeply for the first time in weeks.
