Chris's POV
I woke up on the cold floor. From what I could see, the rough bag and ropes that had bound me before were scrawled out on the floor. When I sat up I wiped the dried blood off of my neck and the puncture wound that I expected to brush over was gone. My body was slightly sore and the dim light in the dark room made my flesh tingle. I was scared out of my mind.
"You woke up? That was quick. At least mine survived" A voice spoke.
"W-w-what do you mean survived? Who are you?" I quivered.
"Well, some people don't make it through the half process and My names Kh-. That's not important, what's important is that Training starts here and now." The girl said, jumping down from the ceiling.
"What the- training for what?" I asked.
"Well, think about it. You were kidnapped, probably, and bit on the neck earlier, what else could have happened? Think comics." She retorted.
"So... I'm a Vampire?" I said, confused.
"Not exactly, you're almost one. You have to drink human blood in order to go through the full change." She calmly stated.
She walked up and sat down beside me. I inched away slightly and looked away. What the hell was I going to tell the guys if I get out if this place? We were supposed to fight Vampires, not become one.
"Are-are you a full?" I tried to sound confident but it came out loud and funny, curse my social skills with strangers.
"Me? No, not yet. Between you and me, this town is way too dangerous to be a full vampire. So many of my full friends have died." She said and look down to stare at her hands.
"Oh I'm sorry." I said solemnly. "what can I call you if you won't tell me your name?"
"Oh uh." She stumbled. "Maybe just Mentor Feds or just Feds, that's what everyone calls me here."
"Okay, Mentor what do you have to Mentor me about?" I finally said normally.
"You have several abilities that you don't realize yet. You can fly, you can lift virtually anything, you can read people's emotions, you can move as fast as light, you climb walls, you can hypnotize people. The list goes on." Those seemed like such great things to do, why did she seem so sad? "Oh and how could I forget, each one of us has our own unique ability. One of the originals, David, can duplicate himself."
I cringed at the name but decided to brush it off. "What can you do?"
"I have telepathy, which means I can move things with my mind." She said.
She waved her hand and a little mouse came floating over. She made it dance and turn in circles. It was a really fun trick.
"Do you like being a Vampire?" I questioned.
She looked up at me and had trouble piecing together her answer. "Two years ago, when I was first turned, it was great. I could do all these cool tricks that no one else could, but then I realized what I had to do in order to keep on living and I hated it. I hate violence and I have to kill innocent rodents that haven't do anything to me. That's just me personally. Who knows, maybe you'll love it."
I stared at her and noticed how young she looked, she couldn't be older than me "How, how old are you?"
"I'm seventeen in years, but my body is 15." She started to look down again and stood up. "Okay, enough about me. I'm supposed to teach you about how everything in this life works. Come follow me."
I got up and trailed closely behind her as she lead me outside of the small room. In the light I got to actually look at her. She was about my height and had short, dark brown hair. Her skin was tanned and she was wearing all black, even her nails were painted a matte black. Her eyes were big and brown and her hair covered some of her face. It was weird how comfortable I felt with her in the small amount of time that we've known each other. She lead me to a long courier door that has several rooms on either side.
"The rooms are labeled. This is the cafeteria, where we eat. Yes there is human food, some of us still like to eat it even if we don't need it. The bunks are at the end of the hall, that's where we stay. Above ground there are some houses that are safe for our kind. This is the activities hall where they just hang out and do mostly nothing. This is the training center where you'll be spending most of your time. And lastly the big door at the very end of the hall is somewhere you can never enter. It is for our leaders and the originals exclusively." She finished the tour and brought me back to the activities hall. "Make friends and get comfy because you won't be able to leave for the next few days."
I nodded and decided to keep my eye out for Vern, he was taken just like me and should be here. I say at one of the chairs and didn't say much all day. It's not that I didn't like anyone, I just never had anything to say. I made small conversation but that's it. Everyone was talking about the new recruits and how there were so many this year. Vampires didn't actually seemed half as bad as they were explained to us. I kind of liked them, they were like normal but not-normal. I guess I fit in here because no one fits in. Everyone was different but no one was segregated. But I've only been here for hours who knows what shit goes on behind the doors of this underground vampire nest.
