Part 1
"Thank you so much for your cooperation. I don't think we'll be able to solve it without you."
It was a common scene for Kyoko Mochizuki these days─ the scene where an older detective gulping down his pride and bows to show his gratitude to the rising detective.
"I know I'm great, but you don't have to bow to me like that." the teen sweatdropped, before bowing to her senior.
With that, the girl turned her back, sighing heavily as she held her head. "What a day..."
She muttered lazily, before pulling out her phone, checking if she received a call. Clicking the power on button, her phone flashed her lockscreen which was a beautiful sunset art. The girl sighed in relief when she saw that there was no missed calls nor messages.
"Tch, I wouldn't exhaust myself if not for that." The girl muttered angrily.
A few days ago
Unamused, Kyoko held her phone near her ear, listening to the caller's meaningless threats, well, at least to her. Had it been to a normal person, they would've been terrified─ but that's not her. She's far from normal.
"Well, yes I am." The girl casually shrugged, not entirely caring what would be the consequence.
"Perfect! Perfect... then join us,"
As soon as the caller finished with its reply, a frown made its way to the girl's face. Soon enough, she just shrugged it off like before. About to hang up, her actions were stopped when-
She felt the tip of a gun at the back of her head.
Her eyes completely widened at the person's stealthy steps. Even shocked that she didn't feel the presence of the person.
There, the man stood with his phone by his ear. A mic of sorts was clipped on his collar, probably a voice changer to hide his identity. The gun he held were pointing at the girl's head, his arm stretched. A decent amount of distance was between him and the girl.
The girl slowly raised her arms, in other words, surrendering.
But that was only before she turned around in a blink of an eye. Her petite yet mighty hand gripped onto the the arm of the gunman, the other ripping the gun from the man's clutches.
The moment her grip on the gun was secured, she gave a strong knee-kick to the person's stomach, who coughed in pain soon after. The teen brought her free hand to the man's neck, gripping on it tightly, thus choking him.
With ease, Kyoko took down the man, pinning his back on the floor. Her grip remained on his neck, then immediately pointed the gun to his head.
Then she recognized him.
Slowly, the girl loosened her grip on his neck, the man taking the opportunity to cough and catch his breath. Not too long after, the man laughed mockingly.
"As expected of Kyoko Mochizuki," The man remarked, the girl at a loss of words.
"You...!" The girl muttered in shock, her eyes as wide as it could. Only met by silence, the girl slowly lowered her head, her bangs shadowing her eyes.
"You do know that I won't hesitate to kill, don't you?"
Part 2
The hallway is silent other than the sound of her boots stomping on the ground. She fixed her tie as she walked through the empty corridor. Walking there was a tall girl wearing a black sleeveless dress with a white collar and a red tie. She was wearing a dirty white jacket which covered her exposed arms. Her grayish white hair moves in sync every time she takes a step. She made an attempt to keep her bangs that covers her right eye behind her ear, but failed when it fell back to its place. She then held the frame of her glasses as she fixed it in place.
