"26, 27, 28, 29--"
"Alright, what do you see?" Steve comments slowly, his tone low and somewhat instructing.
Wanda hesitates for a moment. I sensed she was looking around, scanning the area exactly as we'd trained.
"Standard beat cops. Small station. Quiet street. It's a good target."
"30, 31, 32-"
"There's an ATM in the south corner which means..." Steve pauses, letting Wanda catch his meaning.
"Cameras," She sounds a bit proud of herself.
Steve huffs a chuckle. "Both cross streets are one way,"
"So, compromised escape routes."
"33, 34, 35, 36-"
"I'm sorry but what is in the hell is Riley doing?" Natasha snaps out loud.
Apparently she was very annoyed with my constant interruptions.
Sam's boots walked by me from where I was--practically face flat on the ground. He tilts his head, brows furrowing.
"Uh, Lorelie's..." Sam frowned and gestures wildly. I simply ignored his actions causing him to huff. "She's doing push-ups."
I felt the confusion ripple around the comm, and promptly stopped. "You know what?"
Rising to my knees, I dusted at my hands before properly standing up, belt loops clinking as I did so.
"It keeps the blood flowing, don't hate," I argued disgruntedly, hearing Wanda laugh.
To start, I hadn't wanted to do it, but it was either this or the overflowing amount of energy I was currently holding burns me inside out.
"Alright, focus," Steve exasperatedly sighs. "Our guy doesn't care about being seen. He isn't afraid to make a mess on the way out."
Right, right, gotta focus on the mission.
That's what's important.
Jumping towards the edge, I bent on one knee, eyes observing the City of Lagos from above.
It was quite crowded, the streets simply filled with never-ending streams of people.
Such is the hustle and bustle of daily life.
"You see that Range Rover halfway up the block?"
Following Steve's directions, I pinpointed a sleek red Range Rover just a couple of blocks off.
"The red one?" Wanda questions. "It's cute."
"It's also bulletproof." Natasha cut in, that motherly intonation coming through. "Which means, private security. Which means more guns, which means--more headaches for somebody. Probably us."
Well, when you put it that way...
Way to take the fun off, of some things.
Natasha had every right to be concerned though, this was one of our first major missions since the battle of Sokovia.
