The following day, the six of you began your walk to Shion Village, the next door neighbor of Lotus Village, metaphorically speaking. The day had been pretty smooth so far, no real massive Grimm, no small one either. Everyone had attempted to use their scrolls to contact the small town for some time, however with no luck.

So, you and your friends began your track the the village. Up front with the map was Ruby right beside Jaune and you. Behind you guys were Ren and Nora and Flynn was bringing up the rear. You had to admit, you were a little on edge due to how peaceful everything seemed. Birds chirping, the sun was out and not a cloud in the sky. Regardless of what thought of the situation, you went along with it in order to complete your goal.

Ruby: So the next town is... uh-huh... uh-huh... We're lost.

Jaune: We're not lost. The next town is Shion. My family used to visit it all the time.

(Y/N): Speaking of which, how is your family doing anyway Jaune?

Jaune: They're doing alright. Though, I don't think they particularly like me going out across the world to Haven.

(Y/N): Eh, I think they be fine with your choices.

Jaune: You think?

Nora: I mean, come on Mr. Muscles, if you were my kid I'd be so proud of you!

Jaune: Uh, thanks, Nora.

You step back and lean down to Ren's ear.

(Y/N): Is she usually like this?

Ren: More or less.

(Y/N): Good to know.

Ruby: So, Jaune, what did you guys do there?

Jaune: Oh, all sorts of stuff! Over here is a great hiking trail, and over here is where we went camping all the time. I got my own tent because I was special. Also, so my sisters would stop braiding my hair.

(Y/N): Didn't like the look?

Jaune: Yeah, they just kept doing pigtails, but personally, I think I'm more of a "warrior's wolftail" kind of guy.

Ruby: That's just a ponytail.

Jaune: I stand by what I said.

Nora stops short, raising her hands to her lips as her eyes widen. Soon after, Ren stops, visibly

tense.

Flynn: Uh, guys?

Ruby: Huh?

Jaune: What?

Jaune and Ruby look up from the map. Their eyes widen and jaws drop. In front of them is a desolated village. They sky is gray and two columns of smoke rise in the air. A gazebo has a broken tower and lampposts are askew from the ground. At least one dead body can be seen on the side of the road approaching the town.

Flynn runs in first as you roll up the map and place it within your jacket's pocket. Flynn leaps up onto a building and begins to survey the area. Jaune runs into the village with you and you both inspect a few bodies lining the street. Jaune looks down and sighs to himself, anger growing on his face. You walk over to him and place a hand on his shoulder.

(Y/N): Jaune, you ok, buddy?

Jaune: (Sighs and looks back to the corpse of an elderly woman) She was one of the kindest people I ever knew. She used to take care of my sisters and I when my parents went out for a night here. She was like a second mother to me.
