The following morning, the entire group had awoken to seeing Qrow passed out and coughing up blood and poison. You and your brother had built a stretcher and began to carry Qrow throughout the rest of the forest and into what your brother called, The Bad Lands.

It was there you realized why he called it such. Everything around you guys were dead. Trees had lost their leaves in spring, limbs were hanging left and right. You even thought you saw a dead body hanging in one of the trees. The path was shattered with stones and blocks broken and torn to pieces.

The sky was completely grey and scorched. You just knew everything around you was never going to regrow and be reborn in the next season...or however many seasons it took to regain the greenery.

(Y/N): How's he holding on?

Ruby: He looks alright.

Ruby moves her hand down and grabs her uncles and holds it tightly.

Ruby: Just hold on, Uncle Qrow.

Up front of the group is Ren and Nora leading the group. Both of their weapons are drawn as Jaune leads from the rear, keeping everything and one secured.

Qrow: Tai. She's not... coming... (grunting in pain) Tai.

Qrow coughs repeatedly.

(Y/N): What is he talking about?

Ruby: It's...something. I don't know.

(Y/N): Hey, (Ruby looks up at you) He's going to be fine. I won't let him fall.

Ruby: I know. (To Ren) How much further?

Ren: Without the map, there's no way of knowing. But I feel like we're close to something.

Ren holsters StormFlower.

Ruby: What is it?

Directly ahead is a fork in the road with a signpost. They are coming from the direction of Higanbana. Kuchinashi and Mistral are to the right, where the land is mountainous. To the left is Kuroyuri, its name crossed out. The path that way remains low ground.

Nora: Hey, hey! Mistral! We're on the right path! Oh...

Ruby: Does it say how close?!

Ren: No. And it looks like the path takes us up the mountains.

You and Flynn put Qrow down and walk up to the sign to examine it.

Jaune: Guys, I don't know if all of us can make that climb.

Ruby looks at Qrow, concerned, before rushing forward to the sign post.

Ruby: Okay. Well, what about this place? (pointing) Kuro... Kuroyuri? Can we get help there?

Jaune approaches.

Ren: That village was destroyed years ago.

Jaune: But if it takes us around the mountains, it's the best bet we've got.

Ren: (sternly) It will take too long.

Ruby: The town would have had a doctor, right? Maybe we could scavenge for medicine!

Jaune: Right!

Ren: (closing his eyes, lowering his head and shaking it) We're not going to find anything! We just have to press on!
