Arriving in Anima

After three months of traveling through Sanus, you, your brother and the now Team RNJR arrived at the east coast of the continent. The six of you had gotten a ship rife to the eastern continent and took off towards Mistral. On the final leg of the journey towards Anima, you were hunched over the railing of the ship. You watched as the sea was pushed aside by the mass that was the ship.

You took in the air, smelling the salty breeze as the ship was about to enter Anima waters. If at all possible, you wanted to have the ship take us directly to the capital itself. However, due to Lake Matsu not having any direct route to the oceans of Remnant without a waterfall or blocked off by potential bandits, it was best to land on the coast and hopefully find an airship.

As you were staring out across the sea, you heard footsteps behind you. You turned around and saw an elderly man in a captains uniform. Clearly, he was the captain of the ship. He had a short white beard and brown eyes. He stood around your height, perhaps a inch shorter or two.

Captain: Enjoying the morning?

(Y/N): Yes, sir. It's been one of the more peaceful days in the past few months.

Captain: Well, I'm sorry to hear that, lad.

(Y/N): It's out of your control.

Captain: Well, anything you want to talk about?

(Y/N): Not now. But thank you for the consideration.

Captain: Well, alright then son. If you need anything, feel free to ask.

(Y/N): Gotcha.

The Captain walks off as you resumed looking out across the seas of Remnant. As you did, you felt another presence near you. However, it felt familiar, like someone who has been with you for some time. Next to you emerged Ruby. She gave you a large smile which you just chuckled at.

Ruby moved her head and laid it on your shoulder. You wrapped your arm around Ruby's shoulder and brought her closer to you.

Ruby: How close are we?

(Y/N): Close enough that we should reach the shore before nightfall.

Ruby: Well, that's a relief.

(Y/N): Yeah. Sleep well?

Ruby: Kinda.

(Y/N): Wanna talk about it?

Ruby: If you want to?

(Y/N): Yeah. Go for it.

Ruby gets out of your grip and walks over towards one of the ship's benches. She patted the spot next to her, telling you to come to sit by her. You did so, and took a seat next to her.

Ruby: I-I-

(Y/N): Ruby...talk to me, Rosebud.

Ruby: I...keep having nightmares. I keep seeing Pyrrha...and-and Penny. They die, I lose, over and over again. And I just...couldn't do anything to save them. I just kept seeing them...(sniffs) torn apart.

(Y/N): Hey, hey, hey. (You wrapped your arms around Ruby and pulled her into a hug) It's ok. It was just a nightmare.

Ruby: But I saw them die. Both of them. And I (Sniffs as tears fall from her eyes) I couldn't do anything to save them.

You brought your face down closer to hers. You kissed some of her tears away as you brought her into a tighter embrace.

(Y/N): I know, Rosebud. But we saw what Cinder could do. I wished...I wished I could have done something too. Besides being knocked out for half the evening. I'm sorry.
