The Amusement Park (1)

The Monster Roller Coaster could be seen from kilometres and watching it grow bigger with each five metres we made in the amusement park's direction, increased the adrenaline rush in my blood circulation, as well as the loudness of the people's cheering and yelling! We finally reached our destination, after what felt like an hour ride. I grew more excited by the minute, as Chanyeol was looking for a free slot in the parking area. That Joseph guy's words were making less and less sense by the minute; that roller coaster was definitely more than a hundred metre high and judging by the amplitude of the cries emitted by the people currently riding it, the coaster could not be a boring one...!

Once the car parked, I rushed outside and started jumping excitedly like a little kid in front of a colourful cotton candy stand; it was partly due to the fact that I could not wait to try the beastly roller coaster, and partly because I was having pins and needles in my legs due to that actually thirty-minute ride...!

"What are you tap dancing for, you little elf?", laughed Chanyeol as he got his shades on.
Ah, what would he not do to show his killer looks in those ray-bans...! I had to admit that those sunglasses are quite the biased accessories; they immediately made ten times sexier, while I was just standing out there, looking just like a cockroach. Ah, some days, it were just not worth looking at yourself in a mirror, for security reasons...

"Ah, let me live, you oh-so tall giant! And what are you waiting for to get out...!? Come on! Let's go try that roller coaster already!", I let out. He simply scoffed as he got out, along with the others who were just laughing at my silly 'tap dance'. Well, I would like to see them in my place, when their feet would feel all funny and prickly...! Who would be the one laughing then, huh..!?

As much as I wanted those words to leave my mouth, I was just too prickly in the feet to say anything so I just went on with the flow and made a fool of myself, just the routine...! Chanyeol and I grabbed our backpacks and stuffed it with some snacks and our bottles of water; our parents, mainly our moms actually, were certainly not going to try the electrifying rides, especially the Monster Roller Coaster, although they might want to ride the carousels. In other words, they were just going to be relaxing somewhere in the park, hence the reason why we took the snacks, so that we would not have to go look for them in case we were craving for some.

"Okay kids, be careful out there; there may be security guards all over the place, but they are usually not guarding the right attractions...! If they did, Fleiva Park would not have been closed down...! So make sure your security is ensured first, okay ?", worriedly said Auntie, while handing us some chocolate bars.

"Yes and Chanyeol, please be a dear and look after that calamity of a chatterbox, will you ? Just the usual", added my mom, always the one to be calling me those ridiculous names.
I simply scoffed as I put the chocolate bars in my bag.

"We better head to that beastly baby now...! We'll see you guys soon then!", I said as I grabbed Chanyeol's arm and pulled him. You might all be thinking that I was behaving like a spoiled and ill-mannered brat, but it was just because I felt really comfortable around Chanyeol's parents and I could be myself around them. I had in fact grown up with them too, so that was why I was just being true to personality, and that bratty side of mine, that was itching to just run away and get in line at the ticket stand.

"Uh wait, I would like to give it a try too. Do you mind if I tag along ?", reluctantly asked Eric as he looked at the others to see if they approved of the idea. The hesitation in his voice and expression made me feel bad, as if we were the unapproachable ones.

"Uh, sure. Why not ?" responded Chanyeol, trying to sound as normal as he could.

We were certainly a little taken aback by this, mostly because he did not seem to be the type of person to enjoy those rides, despite his young age; he certainly seemed to be the introvert type, the one which would be quietly reading a book and minding his own business, especially given the situation he was in. Nevertheless, we had all realised that it would certainly not be such a good idea to make him feel isolated and lonely, since he had proven to be quite a good and cool person to be with. Hence, our parents only smiled back and started walking towards one of the many restaurants of the park. Upon hearing Chanyeol's response, Eric's genuine smile popped up and he started walking towards us. His smile was somehow so captivating and lively that I could not help but actually stare, like the creep that I actually was.

Hence, we had been divided into two groups: the youth and the elderly (with all due respect to our parents, haha!!) and we were both heading our own ways. Of course, Eric's presence might seem to be a little uncomfortable at first, but since it was not the first time that he was 'hanging out' with us, we would certainly be able to adapt and make the situation less awkward. We could still talk about the Halloween night...!

"Thank you guys for letting me accompany you, once again. Even though Joseph said that it was not that much interesting, I wanted to try it out and see it for myself", he said as he smiled, displaying this time, a faint trace of sadness.

Each time he would say something like this, I felt an unusually strong pulsation; I felt guilty of not talking to him normally, of not having approached him as a normal person, of having kept my distances from him because of his dark past. I looked at Chanyeol who seemed to be quite disturbed by that too. I lightly smiled at him, letting him know that he should make a move to lighten up the atmosphere.

"It's not the first time that we're doing this; we still spent Halloween night together, didn't we ? So, there's nothing weird about us... hanging out like that."

Ah, Chanyeol, you who who used to be so tactful at handling those kind of awkward situations, what happened this time around!? The way he had hesitated on the words 'hanging out' clearly showed that he, too, was feeling uncomfortable by all of this, and that he was having some troubles in having a casual conversation...!

I looked at him with a questionable look, in hopes he understood that he might have worsened the situation. Eric had naturally sensed the awkwardness but handled it pretty well, by chuckling at Chanyeol's little hesitation. His giggle- Oh wait! That was the first time that we had heard that guy laugh! And if he had been a good friend, that was something that I would definitely celebrate! His sweet little giggle, no matter how cute it sounded, only meant that he felt likewise, but that was only to be expected. It was definitely weird how such deep messages could be conveyed without the use of words; indeed the idiom 'actions speak louder than words' would make all its sense!
