Aura's pov (Libra)
Aura fell to her knees as Paige ran towards her, propping herself up with her other arm. She hadn't noticed the bite during the fight, but when her adrenaline went away, the pain finally registered in her brain.
The pain in Aura's hand was the worst pain she have ever felt in her life. The bite was bright red and swelling, not to mention it felt like it was radiating heat. She could feel the blood pulsing towards the bite and the venom spreading through her veins like wildfire. Every vein the venom went through throbbed with pain and her limbs were going numb. She could feel the venom getting closer to her brain. People were screaming in panic around her. She only caught a few full sentences.
"What's wrong? What's happening?"
"Someone search the trunk! Maybe there's an antidote in there!"
"Hold on Aura!"
"There is so much blood." That one Aura knew was Paige, because it was a whisper and she was the only one close enough for Aura to be able to hear something that soft.
Aura's vision was blacking in and out, so she couldn't really see what was going on and she was really lightheaded. From the things she was catching from conversations around her, she was losing blood fast as well. It was getting harder to breath and she could feel sweat dripping down her face. She felt someone grab the hand with the bite. They wrapped something around it and started wiping off the blood and hopefully some of the venom. Aura figured out it was Paige when she started twisting it around so she could have a better look at the bite. Aura winced a little as she did, because it caused more pain to shoot through her hand.
"Sorry Aura. I'm just trying to see what I can do." Paige said. She twisted her head to the side. "Has anyone found and antidote?" Aura couldn't hear the reply, but when her hand drooped down under Paige's grip, she knew there wasn't one. "Aura I'm so sorry we can't help you, I've-"
"It's okay." Aura cut her off. She was wheezing as she spoke, her breaths short and loud. "You tried your best and that's what counts." Her light-headedness was getting worse and she knew that she wouldn't be able to sit up much longer. Aura could tell everyone was in desperate panic. She thought Gemina and Paige were trying to think of something they could do, but they couldn't think of anything the other couldn't shoot down.
"Guys it's okay," Aura wheezed out. Even though it was quiet, the commotion stopped. "There's nothing you can do-" Her left arm suddenly gave out and she fell onto the ground. She managed to roll onto her back, but she hit the bite while she did so. She hissed in pain and everyone started panicking again. Paige moved to her right side and Gemina to her left. Gemina was screaming at the others, giving them the instructions from Paige, who focused intently on the bite, try to figure out some way to stop the spread of venom long enough for us to find an antidote. Aura heard something about finding a way to tip her head so that the blood would carry the venom to her brain slower and needing something to stop the blood from flowing, but she wasn't really paying attention. Her thoughts were getting fuzzy and she couldn't see out of the outer edges of of vision, even when she wasn't blacked out. Her eyelids were getting heavy and it took a lot of energy to focus and breathing correctly. Gemina was now holding her left hand, going back and forth between screaming at the others and softly talking to Aura. She couldn't tell what Gemina was saying, but it was nice to have someone who wasn't screaming or panicking while they were talking 100% of the time.
Aura was slowly accepting her death. There was no way to prevent it, and she'd rather die somewhat peacefully than making the pain worse and causing herself to suffer by fighting to stay alive when there's no point. The only part she was sad about was the fact that she would never get to say goodbye to her parents, her friends, and Chloe. Her parents may not have been her biological parents, but she still loved them and they loved her. She felt really bad for her friends and she didn't want to leave them. They still had so many adventures that they needed to go on. Chole would be so confused as to why she never came home.
Aura felt the tears slipping down her face as she closed her eyes, accepting the death that was sure to come. She waited for the blanket of death to cover her, but it never came. Instead, she felt a weird pulling in her veins, like something was being pulled out of them. It all pulled towards her right hand and came out of her body through the bite. Aura opened her eyes in confusion to see the snake venom gathering in the air above her hand as it was sucked out of her body.
"What the heck is going on?" Gemina asked, staring at the orb of venom in the air. Aura sat up and saw that Raine and some other people she didn't know had finally decided to show up. Raine walked up in awe.
"What is this?" Paige asked her.
"You're doing it," Raine replied. "What did you do in order to cause it?"
"Ummmmm, I don't reaaly know. I was panicking," Paige replied.
"Think. There must have been some sort of trigger. Maybe, what did it, and does it, feel like?"
"Ummm, kind of like digging into something, like the ground maybe, and pulling the.... whatever this is?" Paige said, not sounding very sure in what she was saying. "Why exactly is this important?"
"Paige, you've tapped into your special magic," Raine said, smiling.
Finished another chapter. Yay me. Again, took awhile, but at least it's a sooner update than last time. Aura's alive! It's too early in the book for someone to die. Also, for those of you confused on the updates on the other chapters (i don't even know if you get notifications from that) I realized that I started writing in third person and had swirched to first person, so I changed it all back to third person. Anyways, hope you enjoyed the chapter!
