Asher's pov (Sagittarius)
The sudden sound of glass shattering followed by a scream woke Asher up. He had fallen asleep on the floor halfway through a round of Call of Duty, the remote still in his hand. The TV was still on, bright enough that it hurt to look at.
"What was that?" Asher asked, running out into the hall and into the kitchen. In the center of the kitchen sat Gennavive, among pieces of broken glass, sobbing. "Oh no. Gennavive stay put. I'm going to get a broom and sweep away a section of the glass so you don't cut yourself, okay?"
Gennavive paused her sobbing long enough to say, "Okay Asher." Asher ran to the broom closet by the backdoor and grabbed a broom and a dustpan. When he ran back into the kitchen, his dad was there, panicking.
"Don't worry Gennavive, your going to be alright," he said. He started to walk towards the glass. "Just wait there and I'll be-"
"Dad! Stop. You'll cut yourself on the glass. Let me handle this, alright?" Asher said. His dad backed up, mumbling to himself about forgetting stuff. Asher started sweeping up the glass. His dad wasn't a bad person, but he didn't know how to take care of child very well. Asher's mom had always taken care of him when he was younger, but she had died of cancer when Gennavive was about three. That had hit his dad hard. He couldn't function very well because the pain of losing Asher's mother was too strong and clouded his mind. He had no sense of time and hardly left the house. Asher loved his dad, but sometimes it could be annoying having to do everything by himself. He finally managed to sweep a path for Gennavive, and she ran into his arms.
"I'm s-so sorry! I-I was trying to get a glass of water, b-but the water got on the floor and I slipped, and... and..." Gennavive dissolved into tears.
"It's okay, it was an accident. Are you hurt?" Asher asked.
"N-no."
"Good. How about you go watch some TV and I'll clean this up," Asher said. Gennavive nodded and ran into the living room. Asher continued to sweep up the broken glass. He could hear his dad leave to go back to his room and sighed. Sometimes he just wished his dad could get a grasp on reality and help out some, but he knew that wasn't going to happen. He got the glass cleaned up and threw the shards into the trash can. As he was putting the broom and distpan away, the doorbell trilled it's high pitched ringing. It was as annoying as a school bell. Asher could hear Gennavive running to the door. She loved answering the door, though no one really knew why. Asher walked up to the door to find Gennavive talking to a young woman who looked about 25. Gennavive was in the middle of talking about the TV show she was watching, when the woman noticed me. She smiled and gave a small wave so she didn't interrupt Gennavive. Asher put his hands on Gennavive's shoulders.
"Alright, that's enough. You're missing part of your show anyways Gen," Asher said. Gen was his nickname for Gennavive.
"My show!" Gennavive said, running back to the couch. She sure did love her shows. Asher chuckled at his sister before turning back to the woman.
"Sorry about that," he said.
"It's perfectly fine. She's absolutely adorable," the woman said. "And passionate about her TV shows."
"Yeah. So what brings you here?"
"I actually needed to talk to you. I'm asuming you're Asher Eld, correct?"
"That's me."
"Well Asher, I'm Raina Hunting, but please call me Raina. Mind if I come inside?" Asher gestured for her to follow him. He walked into the kitchen and sat down at the table. Raina stood opposite of him.
