Patience is a virtue

Good or bad news?

My whole body was sore, and I felt a pair of hands wrapped protectively around me. Someone was carrying me, and he was doing it bridal style, fucking great. I opened my eyes and saw the blond angelic face in front of me. My love was dusted and had a few scratches on his visage, but the look of determination was the most noticeable. He was running very fast, holding me tight to his chest, my head snuggled to his pectoral. I looked at me and saw orange blouse covering my upper body, it was dusted with blood here and there. My eyes scanned saviors features again as I decided to talk. 

"Naru..." my voice was raspy, my throat hurt. He looked at me and gave the smallest cute smile while tender and feeling filled his eyes.

"Ssshh Kashi, don't talk." he shushed me calmly "We're almost at Tazuna's. We'll rest there, go back to sleep if you need to, you went through a lot." his orbs glued to the road again. I wanted to argue, but my fatigue hit me and I fell asleep in his save embrace.

I woke up again when Sakura was stitching up my cuts which made me hiss in pain gritting my teeth. She looked at me surprised, Naruto's head jolted up behind her.

"I'm almost done sensei, please bear up a bit longer." her voice was concerned, I nodded my head. 

When pinkie was done she left and I opened my eyes. I was lying in her room, in her bed precisely. I propped myself on my elbows and a sharp pain went through my body. Naruto came closer and sat on the bed beside me. 

"How do you feel?" he asked scanning me with his eyes.

'How do you think?" I said rather harshly, his eyes saddened. No, I didn't want pity, it was hurting to see him like this. "Maa, I've been through worst, it'll be ok." I lied. Nothing will be okay if you keep looking at me this way. He nodded his head and frowned.

"We get a letter from Tsunade baa-chan. We have to come back immediately." this was my turn to nod, but I didn't feel like moving at all. "I'll bring you the supper, we ate already." he trailed off in unemotional voice and left. I didn't know how he felt, and I sucked in that subject. I was only hoping he won't feel pity for me. 

He came back and placed the plate with chopsticks on the table beside the bed. He helped me to sit up, leaning my back on the pillow. I tried to catch chopsticks but failed miserably, my fingers shaking from exhaustion. He shook his head, pulled down my mask, took chopsticks and grab a bit of food. Then he placed it in front of my mouth waiting for me to open it. I hesitated for a moment, but I didn't have a choice so I obeyed. Normally I'd be more than happy for Naruto's taking care of me, but not now. I ate in silence, and when meal finished he laid me down on the bed and ordered to sleep. I fell asleep when my head hit the pillow, he slipped away just after.

I woke up in weird position hearing chirping birds. I forced myself to open my eyes and noticed Obito holding me on his back. I whispered silent thanks in his ear, and he squeezed my tight lightly in acknowledge as I drifted away again. 

When I woke up later I was in one of Tenzou's house. I found myself hugged in Naruto's chest, he was holding me protectively with his arms around my body. I looked at right to see Tenzo smiling with a knowing look. I smiled back lightly and cuddled even closer to my blond angel letting Morpheus bring me in his arms.

When I woke the third time I saw no one other than Tenzou which was carrying me on his back. I looked to the right and saw Sasuke holding Sai who was asleep. I turned my neck and my bones popped lightly, I learned to my friend's ear and whispered quickly "Arigato." 

"Rest senpai, you need it a lot." he answered silently but I heard it. I looked at my arms wrapped around his neck and noticed I was still wearing jinchuriki's sweatshirt. I smiled ever so lightly and let myself fall asleep again.

When I woke up for the last time I heard beeps of machines and felt IV in my vein. I opened my eyes carefully but it was night so the light didn't blind me. I heard quiet snoring and I tried to find a source of the sound. On my left, Naruto was sleeping deeply on the hospital's bed. I wondered if he was hurt so I sat up. Pain jolted through my flesh and I felt dizzy. I ignored it and tried to stand up, when my legs felt cold tiles I pushed my weight on the feet but my knees bucked off beneath me. I was falling down so I braced myself to hit the ground only to be caught by soft arms. I looked up and saw beautiful blue eyes gazing at me. A small smile graced his lips as he placed me back on my hospital bed.

"Did you get hurt?" I asked in the hoarse voice, he shook his head.

"No, I was waiting for you to wake up. You were out for a few weeks and I knew you'd try to stand up just after waking up." he chuckled lightly and I joined him. "I'm going for a nurse, wait here."

I nodded my head and waited for him to return, but an only brown-haired woman came to my room. No sign of Naruto in the sight. She ran a few tests on me and scribbled something on her clipboard. 

"How bad?" I asked.

"Nothing threatening, just exhaustion and vast loss of chakra." Shizune replied with a smile, I nodded. "You'll be free in a few days." she reassured me and wished goodnight, so I went back to my restless sleep dreaming about certain blond.

I was in the hospital for some quiet time now, my friends were visiting me but there was no mark of my beloved one. I was sure he felt disgusted toward me, and I couldn't blame him. When I was about to leave Shizune told me to go to Tsunade's office. I directed my steps right there, in the tower I immediately went to the door, knocking. She let me in and measured closely.

"How do you feel Kakashi?" she asked in a warm voice.

"I'm good Hokage-sama, thank you." I answered politely.

"Good, I've got two news for you." she announced with a big grin on her face.

"And what is that?" I asked curiously.

"Firstly, the head of Hyuga's clan, Hyuga Hiashi, proposed his daughter Hyuga Hinata, Byakugan no Hime to our beloved Uzumaki Naruto. As his godmother, I accepted his offer gladly." she announced very proudly. I clenched my fists by my sides and felt stumped. "Are you okay Kakashi? If I didn't know you 'd think you are not supporting it." she said added, I shook my head.

"No, no, Hokage-sama. I am really happy about our little Naruto getting married. But isn't he a bit too young?" I asked sadly.

"Don't worry, I told them about his dream. They'll get married in 3 years, not earlier. We all want Naruto to become a jounin, don't we? We have to give him some time to train and learn how to be a Hokage." she said with a smile, I nodded.

"And the second one milady?"

"Ah, I want you to be Hokage. I'm tired of all of it so I would gladly cess for you."

I was stunned, she looked so happy and revealed. But I couldn't, at least not now. 

"Hokage-sama, with all respect but I can't. Not now at least. Please, give me time to rest a bit, to spend time with my friends, with Gai who was severely injured during the war. I beg you, give us two or at least a year of vacation. Let us rest, I want to help him in his rehabilitation, he is my best friend." she scanned me carefully with her honey eyes, I couldn't tell her about what happened between me and Naruto, between me and Hidan. No one should know, and I only hoped my team won't let the cat out of the bag.

"I will consider your vacation Kakashi, dismissed." Tsunade ordered, therefore I bowed my head one last time and went back to my apartment.

There, laying exhausted on my bed I couldn't sleep a wink, thoughts chasing the reason for my misery.
