CHAPTER EIGHT - New Beginnings

Justin

Today was my birthday, it was also Austin's birthday too. Just to think that a few weeks ago I had tried to kill him, but luckily Fleur had told us at the right time.

Nadine was watching me from across the room. She was my brother's ex-girlfriend and everyone assumed they would get back together, but they had just stayed friends. Nothing more.

Today we set off to Italy as we had been set a task to find Nadine's older brother, Luke, who apparently had a power too. All of us apart from Khloe have powers, most of their parents were criminals and were taken away from them at young ages. I had lived a normal happy life with my so called parents.

Until I was sent off to Brighawood, a boarding school for children that are not sane. I can admit, I am not alright up in the head, but I turned out to be a lot better than some of the others. Kady, who had been killed, was mental. And to be honest, she was too mental for me to have ever liked her. I can also admit that I'm glad she's dead. But Brianne was still around and she scared me slightly, as she could be anywhere; she had the power of invisibility and usually used it to spy on people. When I had chosen Nadine over her she vowed she would find other kids with powers and kill us all.

"Happy birthday, brother," Austin grinned.

I gave him a pat on the back and walked over to Nadine, she folded her arms around her chest and gave me a slight smile.

"Well look who it is, the birthday boy. Sorry I didn't get you a present" she said guiltily.

I shook my head. "It doesn't matter. You standing here, looking at me like that is good enough for me."

She raised a perfect arched eyebrow. "Are you flirting with me, Justin Taylor?"

I took a sip of beer. I drunk beer a lot. I was not an alcoholic though, I could live without it. I only drink it as it was there for me to take.

"Well, you are a free woman now." I muttered. "Unless you and Austin are giving it another go?"

She shrugged her shoulders. "Why don't you ask him, I don't know myself anymore."

She placed her hand on her stomach and left the room. Austin followed a few minutes after. I followed him out of the roon and down the corridor. I wanted answers.

Austin

I met her outside mine and Justin's room.

"Why did you want to meet me, whats up?" I asked her.

She placed her hand on her stomach. "Larry is doing a scan of the baby and I thought you would like to come."

I didn't think that she would take me.

"Is there something wrong with it?" I said worriedly.

She shrugged her shoulders. "This baby is growing at high speed, I know its not going to be normal, as I'm not normal, and you're not normal. So this baby is definitely not normal."

I opened my mouth but nothing came out. I was scared for Nadine and the baby. My baby.

"Okay, let's go to Larry then" I took her arm and led her to Larry's office down the hall.

When we opened the door he was already there waiting, the excitment on his face.

"Lay here Nadine," he indicated to the sofa on the left.

I stayed at the back of the room and watched her lay down and lift half of her jumper up. Nadine has always been skinny, her arms were like twigs that could snap at any time. But now, she had put on weight on her stomach. Her bump wasn't big but it was noticeable.
