CHAPTER FOUR - I've been lied to, so what's the truth?

Austin

I woke to the shower turning on. Nadine wasn't in bed so it must have been her. I had to be ready for the day ahead. I had to face Fleur and speak to her and tell her that last night was a misunderstanding.

I wanted to go to my house to get new clothes and help my little sister Olivia with her homework and walk her to school, but we were in hiding.

Nadine strolled into her room with her hair wet and tangly with half of it wrapped around in a brown towel.

"You can go and take a shower if you want." She said awkwardly.

"I will take one later, we need to have a meeting in the living room. Can you go and get everyone?" I asked.

She nodded her head. "Sure."

I put my head in my hands. This was going to be a long day.

Nadine

The meeting was held in the living room. Well, Austin said it was a 'meeting', but I knew that it was really just an excuse for them to sit and ask me questions about what had happened at Brighawood.

"Nadine, why is Brianne after us?" Brian asked curiously.

"I'll tell you everything. There isn't just Brianne who is at Brighawood, there is Kady, who is a shapeshifter. I haven't seen her demonstrate her powers, but Justin had told me that she can turn into anybody that she has seen..."

"Who's Justin?" Austin interrupted.

I could feel myself blushing. "He's the leader, and he can shoot balls of fire out of his hands."

Fleur scowled. "He's the one that hit Brian down with the Ferrari isn't he?"

I shrugged. I knew the answer but I didn't want to say.

Fleur shook her head. "And where do we come into the picture?"

I glared at her. I didn't like her tone of voice. Whenever I looked at her I remembered what I saw on that piece of paper and shuddered...

"Khloe, Kady's sister and Kady made a formula that puts you under a trance. They are controlling you, but you don't remember what you've done. They want to capture you, and use it on you. There. I hope that answered your question, Fleur."

No one spoke. Fleur looked taken aback.

"What's your problem?" I asked.

She rolled her eyes. "You're friends with the people who are after us. It's obviously a trap, guys, don't be so stupid!"

"They are not my friends." I spat.

Austin stood up and walked to my side.

"She didn't know we were staying and she doesn't have a phone, so she isn't tricking us." Austin mumbled.

"I don't need you fighting my battles for me, thank you." I said sharply.

He looked as if I'd slapped him. He deserved it.

If he thinks he's getting off this easily, then he's wrong.

Fleur

I was about to leave the room after Nadine's so called 'meeting', when Austin pulled me back.

"Um Fleur... I need to speak to you."

I sighed and sat on the table. "Make it quick." I said.

"Fleur.. You know..um, that kiss yesterday, well, I didn't really mean it. I was only kissing you because I missed Nadine..."
