CHAPTER THIRTEEN
Austin
She had drips in her arms that put fluid and food into her body. She just lay there, asleep, looking peaceful.
Fleur washed and changed her everyday, then sat with the baby girl who I hadn't named yet as Nadine would probably hate every idea I had. Larry told me that I should speak to her because Nadine might be able to hear me.
I cleared my throat. "Hey Nad, you probably can't hear me but I will speak anyway. The baby is a girl but shes not well, she is in a deep sleep, in a coma like you. I would kiss you right now but it will be like kissing someone dead. I love you Nadine, and I know I don't tell you that enough. But I will wait for you, babe, and as soon as you wake up I promise you I will never leave you or let you get hurt. I have to go and check on our child, I will come back soon."
I waited to see if there was any movement, but she stayed asleep.
Justin
I sat with my niece, she had tubes and all sorts of things attached to her. She was in the same condition as Nadine, in a coma. I hadn't gone to see her, she wouldn't want me there.
"She is so cute, if only I could hold her." Fleur said sadly. "We need to take a picture of her, cause she might not make it and I can't heal her."
My insides twisted. 'Might not make it'. She had to make it. God knows what Nadine would do if she died. Nadine's mum shot herself infront of Nadine and Luke; I felt for them. I felt for Nadine the most.
Why are you being a pussy? You tell yourself you love this girl and you haven't even seen her once since she has gotten into the coma. She has more guts then you do, she leapt infront of a bullet to save Fleur while you stood there like a douche!
That girl was making me go insane. Even though I already was, but the thought of it was eating away at me and I didn't know what to do...
"If anything happens to any of them, I don't know what I am going to do. It will be my fault." Fleur started to cry.
I took the camera off her and then walked over to the baby. Her eyes were shut, all that moved was her chest that went up and down. I took two pictures, a far away one and one up close.
"You can make it, please for your mum." I whispered so Fleur couldn't hear me. "Please."
Austin
I sat silently with Luke in the kitchen. We drank coffee, as it gave us the energy to stay up all night and look after Nadine.
"Have you seen the baby today?" Luke asked.
I shook my head, no.
"You should see her while I go and sit with Nadine." Luke said, looking at me for the first time.
"No, I need to be with Nadine." I muttered.
"Dude, you never leave the room. I was shocked to actually see you out of there. Look at you, you have worn the same clothes for two days now, Austin. It's not healthy, don't make yourself ill for her sake!" Luke shouted.
I couldn't be bothered to argue, I was too tired.
"Fine." I muttered.
I stood up from my chair and stomped out of the room. All I wanted was for Nadine to wake up. The baby didn't even have a name and I didn't know what to do, my mind was all over the place.
I walked into the baby's room. Fleur and Justin were asleep on the chairs they were sat on. I took a seat looking inside the incubator.
Fleur stirred. "Nadine told me that if she had a little girl she wanted it to be called Eliza and if it was a boy, Dave-Austin" she yawned.
I nodded my head, looking at the baby. "Eliza. I don't personally like it, but if Nadine likes it, then she will be called Eliza."
The baby had never woken up to see the world. She was in a coma like her mum. Fleur came over to me with a camera slowly, like she was dreading it.
"We are taking pictures of the baby for Nadine because Eliza might not be here for when she wakes up. Can I take one of you and her?" Fleur said slowly.
I knew Eliza wasn't likely to make it. Larry had told us there was something wrong with her heart.
"Yeah, sure." I said, moving my head next to the incubator.
I put on a small smile until the flash of the camera had finished. I looked over at a sleeping Justin, I hadn't spoken to him properly since he kissed Nadine. I sort of missed him in a way, I needed someone to speak to.
"I better get going, I will come back in thirty minutes." I said walking out of the room.
I stopped dead in my tracks when alarming sounds came from the machine next to her.
"Grandpa, Grandpa!" Fleur screeched. "She's in cardiac arrest!"
Larry colided into me as he ran into the room. I crawled into the corner and dug my head into my knees.
They tried for ten minutes, giving her shocks with some machine, giving her mouth to mouth, but nothing worked. Fleur looked at me, tears streaming down her face. She shook her head slowly.
She didn't make it. I ran out of the room and cried.
