During the first test of the nuclear bomb scientists didn't know how the bomb would react, and if that doesn't make you nervous the fact that a hypothesis accepted by many of them was that (don't ask me the science I don't know) all the oxygen in the atmosphere would burn and kill everything on Earth....aren't you glad they were wrong.
