Quite possibly one of the biggest and most interesting urban legends I can think of. So the legend goes a little like this there's a patch of ocean from Florida to Puerto Rico to Bermuda where crap just hits the fan for no apparent reason. Going back to the very earliest accounts brings up Columbus when he was sailing to the New World and he made note of a great flame falling to the ocean and a strange light coming from that direction a week later he also recorded erratic compass readings and much later in 1918 a cargo ship that was 532 feet long with a crew of over 300 dissapeared with its load of maganese ore it never sent a distress signal nor was the weather bad it just dissapeared.  In the 1940's a squadron of U.S. Navy pilots got disoriented while training over the triangle and dissapeared a search was launched and the rescue plane with its 13 men also dissapeared compasses on the planes were reported to have failed which may have resulted in the crashes but the wreckage was never found.
