Ice Cream

We went to Sweet Frogs and Shelby paid for everything, I thought it was nice but I made sure that I put a lot in my frozen yogurt. After everything was paid for we sat outside to relax and to feel the summer breeze, no one talked for a while until Shelby finally spoke up “A lot of my friends have been telling me about the You and I music video is it really that good?” she said while playing with her yogurt. “Yep it was fun to make it and…and…man this is good,” Niall said with yogurt all on his face and in his mouth, “If you don’t slow down you will get a brain freeze,” Louis said while laughing. Shelby did a little chuckle and then took another bite of her yogurt, I looked down at mine and noticed that I barely touched it. I looked around and noticed that everyone except Shelby and I were almost done.

“What’s wrong, Zayn,” she said “Is everything ok?” I placed my hand on her shoulder and looked at her “I’m fine,” I told her as a smile crept on my lips. She seemed satisfied with the answer and went back to eating her yogurt, “AH…AHH,” I looked over and Harry and Niall both had a brain freeze. I began to laugh and so did Shelby and Louis, Liam just tried to explain how to stop the pain. Shelby looked at me with a funny look on her face, “What?” I asked her “First one with a brain freeze looses,” she said with a big smile “You’re on,” I said back. Shelby and I were almost done and neither of us had a brain freeze yet, I looked up and noticed that Shelby was done with her yogurt and I had only one bite left I ate it and my head began to ache I held it and Shelby began to laugh like crazy. “You got a brain freeze,” she said with a big smile, I looked at her then I closed my eyes and rubbed my temple.

After Sweet Fogs we went back home but before Shelby was even able to go inside the house her phone was ringing like crazy, “Who is it this time?” Niall asked her “McKenna…ignore,” she said looking annoyed. “Do you have any idea of why she is calling you?” Louis asked “My guess it’s because I did a rain check on…you know,” she said while shrugging her shoulders. She seemed to be fine with not seeing him today but it did feel like she really wanted to see him again, we got into the house and Shelby went upstairs and got on her computer once again. She has been on it all week like her life depended on that it, Liam went up to see if she was ok and then came back down after a while “Hey, Zayn, Shelby said that she’s not feeling well do you want to see what’s wrong?” “Uh sure,” I said I headed up to her room and found her asleep on her futon that she had pulled up to make a couch. She looked like a college student she had the computer on her lap and her head on the top of the couch.

I picked up the computer and began to read what she had written so far, it was getting pretty good and it seemed like she really like writing the book. I closed the computer and sat it down under her bed, I gently laid her head down on a pillow that was next to her and covered her with a big blanket. She looked like a little kid, her hair was put up in a messy ponytail and she was curled up into a ball. I did a little smirk and then left the room, when I shut the door the guys were waiting in the hall for me “can u tuck me in too?” Harry said while waving his hand like an idiot. I laughed and we headed back down stairs before we went to bed, “Hey she left her phone,” Louis said while handing me the phone. I took a quick look at it and I noticed that there were a lot of text messages from one person.

I didn’t bother to see who it was because I didn’t want her to be mad at me again so I left it alone all of us slept down stairs, but I sat outside. I felt like I needed to be alone for a while today was a long and crazy day, I let out I deep sigh and I heard the door behind me open. “Is it ok if I sit out here with you?” I heard a familiar voice say I turned around and noticed that Shelby was up, she was still wearing capris and a big shirt and a blanket was around her shoulders. “Shouldn’t you be in bed?” I asked her, she looked up at the sky “The stars look really nice tonight don’t you think?” she said ignoring my question. I looked up at them and then back at her I had a sort of confused look on my face because I was never really entrusted in stars, I could never really understand why she loved them so much they were just lights in the sky. “Why do you like the stars so much?” I asked her, she stopped looking at the stars and looked at me and then at the stars again “It was something me and my dad did when it was nice outside,” she said. I felt bad for asking but I knew that she needed to be ok with talking about her dad.

“You…um left your phone in the living room,” I reminded her, she shook her head to let me know that she understood. “Well I’m going to bed nigh, Zayn,” she said she gave me a hug goodnight and then went inside the house. I took out my phone and looked at the time and then got up and went inside to do the same.
