They don't know what I've been through. They think I'm a spoiled brat. Do they ever have it wrong.

I worked hard for what I wanted and what I needed.

Sure I got a lot of pretty things now but my past was rough. I used to scrub floors, face down in the lemon disinfectant.

I used to clean the school bathrooms after school for 15 dollars. Not a lot but enough for dinner.

Days would go by where I couldn't get a piece of food. Or when my clothes didn't fit me no longer, so I would steal from the lost and found.

It all started when one day in 8th grade, 3:00pm school was out, I was doing my daily routine. Clean the bathrooms, steal food from the lunchroom and finally take something from the lost and found.

Nobody knew I was taking food and clothes. But my father would ask "where did you get that?" Every time I brought home a new clothing article.

Heading to the lost and found bin, I dodged for cover when I saw a boy digging through it. I couldn't let anyone see me do this!

The boy was about my height. He had blonde hair, a cute face, and some loose clothing. He looked like any other kid in this middle school.

I watched him pick up a shirt and hold it too his torso. He nodded and took off with it, exiting the school. I stood there shocked.

There's someone else who is taking stuff from the lost and found like me?

On the way by I grabbed a pair of blue, size 9 runners and headed home.

Getting home, my father was gone and our German Shepard, duke was hungry. Looking around for some food in the kitchen, all I found was a can of sardines. Duke didn't mind it one bit, I cringed at the taste.

I was in my room, searching my yearbook when I found him, the boy at the lost and found.

Justin Bieber was his name and he was in grade 7. I think I've seen him around the school before but never came face to face with him.

Throughout the school year I examined him from a distance and became curious. Is he just taking stuff for fun or really in need of it?

It was the last day of school when I walked past Mrs. Bookers classroom, going to lunch. I scored a granola bar from a boy in my class and some fruit from one of the teachers.

"Mrs. Booker, I'm talking with usher" I saw Justin say this as I scooted past the room. Usher? As in Usher Raymond the singer? I didn't know but my curiosity was growing by the minute.

Over the summer I got a job at a local diner, Madelyn's diner and got some money for walking peoples dogs.

My curiosity of Justin Bieber was driving me crazy over the summer, so I planned to talk to him once school starts. Having a friend is harmless right? Having someone who understands what your going through is better, or would it be a competition?

I argued with myself the whole summer. Once I was back in school, I searched for him.

2 weeks past and I was starting to lose hope. Maybe he moved or dropped out?

Over the next years of school my curiosity only raised but my life was getting better. My father finally got a job and I got one as a vet assistant.

Miraculously I graduated and joined a program to help me go to college. It was the summer after high school when I received crazy news.

I was checking my yahoo mail on my laptop when the familiar name popped up in the news section. 'Justin Bieber starts his first worldwide tour' it said.

Justin bieber? As in the kid I went to school with? Quickly clicking on it, my eyes widened. It truly was him, his face looked slightly different but I'm sure it was him.

He now had brown hair that was swept almost into a bowl haircut but more attractive and trimmed neatly.

He's starting a tour? I became obsessed to know more about him, so I looked him up and read that indeed he signed with usher, the singer.

With some saved up money I bought a ticket to his tour. I saw him November 23 in Toronto and let me tell you the kid has talent.

Since I found out about him I was beyond interested in this new superstar. I followed all his social media and even saw him in concert 2 years later. I was inspired.

From watching his movies and listening to his interviews I found indeed he had a rough start to life, just like me.

He's the reason why I got to go to college and am training to become a doctor.

He's always been my inspiration.

I've connected with him in the simplest ways.

Justin Drew Bieber and I worked to get where we are today, successful and alive.
