Elma came back from the bathroom and wrapped a soft towel around me. "No really, it's fine." I said. I was soaking, but I really didn't care. I stared down at her the spider insignia on my chest. Elma hugged me tight. "There you go." She said. I carried the towel to my room and closed the door. I slid the wet spandex suit off of myself and put on dry clothes. I stunk like the sea. I walked back out into the living room. Kanna was still on her phone, probably texting her friends. "Ugh, my head hurts." I muttered. I sat down in a chair next to Kanna. She looked up at me. "So did you fight any cool bad guys this time?" She asked. "Well there was this one guy with a wing suit, but these guys were pretty much normal." I answered. I looked at Kanna for a second, and then looked down to see my mask on the ground. "You always loved Spider-Man when you were younger." I said. "You thought I was the greatest." We looked into each other's eyes. "Yeah." She sighed. "I wanna thank you for always being there for me, when Kobayashi was around. I didn't see my parents much, so I saw you and Kobayashi as mother and father figures. So thank you." She smiled at me. "You're going to be a great father someday." She told me. I began to think about that. Maybe me and Tohru would had a kid someday. It was all so confusing to me. "I guess." I replied. "So how's school been going?" I asked. Kanna had been going to school over and over again over the years because she enjoys it, according to what Tohru told me. She had just started her 11th grade year for the 4th or 5th time. "Good. It's the same stuff, just different people." She said. "So what kinda friends have you been making?" I asked as I shot a web onto Kanna's phone and pulled it into my hand. What was on the glowing screen slightly shocked me to say the least. It was a text conversation, but the contact name was "Ben" with a heart emoji next to it. Their conversations were mostly consisted of all that lovey dovey stuff me and Tohru used to say to each other when we first started dating. I stared in awe. "Geez Kanna, you never told me you had a boyfriend." I said. She looked down and blushed. "I didn't think you'd approve of it." I looked at her. "When can I meet him?" I asked with a smile.

Tohru made us a great dinner and we all went to bed happy. I couldn't sleep. I had a weird nightmare. I got up to go get a glass of water and saw Elma standing in the kitchen as well, only wearing a long shirt. She blushed a little, but we didn't say a word to each other. As I was filling the cup up with water, I heard Elma start to speak. "Are you and Tohru going to be like this forever?" She asked. Half awake, I was confused as to what she meant. "Like, are you always gonna be just girlfriend and boyfriend? You guys could start a family, and we could make it just like the old days when Kobayashi was here." She raised her voice a little. This touched me. I missed how it used to be whenever Kobayashi wasn't dead. And she was right. We could start a family. A great one. "Alright, that's it. Tohru and I are going to get married." I said, and turned around to see Elma with a smile stretching across her face. I hugged her and said goodnight, and then went back to bed. Tomorrow was a promising day. Kanna had promised to let me go shopping with her and her boyfriend, which on said trip I was going to buy the ring to propose to Tohru. I woke up to the smell of bacon and eggs. I got up and put some clothes on so I could walk out to the kitchen. Kanna was already dressed and seemed to be rushing. "C'mon, get dressed, we have to go!" She said. Apparently I had slept in. "Hold on!" I replied. I rushed I into my room and stripped down. I opened my dresser to see my Spider-Man suit before me. I slipped it on under my clothes. "Just in case." I thought to myself. I followed Kanna out of the door. "Where's this kid's house, why can't I just webswing us there?" I asked. "For two reasons." She said. "Number one, we want to keep your identity a secret to the world right? And number two, he said he would pick me up here." I pondered this. "Oh." I said. About 2 minutes later, a sleek SUV, probably his mom's, pulls up next to us. We both get in. He looks at me. "Hey Kanna, what's up?" He says. "Who's this?" I stared at him trying to get a good look at his face. "He's..." Kanna struggled to find words to say it. "I'm her father." I lied. "And, you know, I just wanted to meet you. Sorry to be a bother." He looked at me. "Oh no not at all, sir." He said. "You look kinda young to be a dad." I didn't reply back. As we drove to the mall, Kanna, me and Ben had various small talk. When we got out of the car, that was the first chance I had to get a good look at him. He looked me in the eyes. "You kinda look like someone I know, but I can't tell who." I said. We both looked away. As we walked into the building it was a slightly new experience to me, saying as I hadn't been to a mall in over 60 years. Nothing that big had changed, besides some small things. The three of us walked together and chatted away before going into any stores. "So, you seem like a pretty cool guy." Ben said to me. "Oh, thanks I guess." I said. "Kanna, where's your mom?" Ben asked. My mouth gaped in awe at the question. Kanna was speechless. "She's... dead." I said quietly. "Oh, I'm very sorry for asking." Ben said. "Not a bother at all." I replied. We walked silently for a while. I looked over at Ben and Kanna. "I'm going to go check out a few stores." I told them. "Just text me when you guys are done." As I watched them walk away, I watched them hold hands and walk together. They were such a cute couple. But I had a certain suspicion about Ben. A bad feeling. But I had no idea why. He was a polite, kind young man, always willing to help out. It dismissed it as my spider senses messing with my head. I slowly walked to the jewelry store and thought about me and Tohru's future together. It troubled me to think about if I wasn't able to cheat death again, because I knew that someday death would take me. I couldn't always ignore it. I cleared my mind. I didn't have time to think depressing things like that. As I walked into the store, a dozen rings caught my eye. They had so many choices, it was honestly hard to pick which one I wanted. I thought about it for a little while and then decided on one that I thought looked nice. I knew it wouldn't matter how nice it was to Tohru, because she appreciated anything from me, but I still wanted to treat her. I told the person behind the counter which one I was planning to buy. He put the ring in a little box, and then I after I paid for it he placed it in my hand. I hastily placed it into my pocket. That's when I got a text from Kanna saying they were done. I must've taken longer than I thought picking a ring. I texted them to meet at the malls entrance and began to walk there. After waiting there for about 5 minutes, Ben and Kanna walked towards me. "You guys ready to go?" I asked. "Yeah." They both replied. We walked out to Ben's car. The drive home was normal. Nothing extraordinary. But I just couldn't shake the feeling that I had seen Ben somewhere before. I don't know what it was, but I just recognized his face from somewhere. He dropped us off at home. Kanna told him bye as I walked into the apartment complex. She slowly trailed behind me. I unlocked the door to the apartment and walked in. It was a normal day. Tohru and Elma were glued to the TV watching something. As Kanna followed behind me, I walked up to Tohru. I glanced at the TV screen. It was the news. The headlines on the screen read, "Equipment stolen from local university." I listened to what the newscaster said. "People are baffled as to why various pieces of equipment, previously belonging to the Jackal, a criminal that plagued  Tokyo years ago, has been stolen from a storage facility inside of a local university. Who could be behind this?" "Oh no." I said. This gave me a very bad feeling. I turned off the TV. "That's enough of that." I said. Tohru looked at me. I stared back into her fiery red eyes. I couldn't help myself. I reached into my pocket. I opened the small box to reveal the ring. "Tohru, will you marry me?" I asked eagerly. She gasped. A huge smile stretched across her face. "Yes! Yes!" She said happily. She hugged my neck and the kissed me passionately. I slipped the ring on her finger. I had more important things to think about than stolen equipment.
