Frank stood in a room looking out the window when a door opened, and they shoved Brendan into it. They closed the door as he stood there.

"Do you have any idea how angry I am right now?" Frank asked, calmly.

Brendan stood there quietly.

"See, I was trying to avoid issues, but then new ones arise," Frank said, turning around to face Brendan. He casually strolled towards Brendan, like a predator circling its prey. "See, I told you to get rid of the girl and take the boy, but you couldn't even take care of that."

"Frank, it's not as simple as you think. Ace Morgan knows," Brendan told Frank.

"Now that is a problem," Frank said as he pulled out a knife and quickly moved around, securing Brendan's head and slicing his neck ponytail style. He released Brendan as he dropped to his knees, grabbing his neck as he bled, gasping.

Frank crouched down and pointed the knife at him, "Thanks to your stupidity, now I have a complication."

He stood and walked away to leave Brendan to bleed to death. He opened the door and met by one of his men. "Grab the package; we're leaving."

The guy nodded as Frank's right-hand man met him along the way. "Now, what do we do? If Ace Morgan knows it's a matter of time before we're all dead."

"Raul, that's why I'm in charge. I want you to gather some people and pay my whore of ex a visit. I want her dead, and I want the boy, or you can suffer the same fate as that piece of shit in there," Frank barked.

Raul nodded as Frank walked out of the building and got into a car. It was time to move. It was only a matter of time before Ace found him.

Ace stood there on the beach as the waves crashed onto the shore. It was peaceful. A place he knew he wanted to bring Hope one day. Chase walked up and stood next to him on his right side as Brax stood on his left hand.

"It's peaceful, isn't it?" Chase spoke calmly. That was the thing about Chase; he was calm and smart. That's why he was Ace's right-hand man and best friend. Brax was his force. He knew when it came down to it, Brax could get his hands dirty.

"It's been long-run boys, but I'm ready to pass the reigns to someone new eventually," Ace told Chase and Brax.

"What are you saying, Ace?" Brax asked Ace.

"I'm saying Hope needs some normalcy. I brought Hope into these years ago. The Santiago's taking her along with Alex made me realize that at some point, I have to do what's best for Hope," Ace told them.

"So, are you thinking about handing this off after this job?" Chase asked him.

"Fuck, no! Do you think those twits could handle this? I'm talking about retiring when I'm around eighty. You know to come down here, wear an ugly shirt, black socks up to my knees, play shuffleboard," Ace said.

"Do you even know how to play shuffleboard?" Brax asked him.

"Does it matter?" Ace asked.

"I don't know Ace, with your temper. The minute someone beats you, you'll pull out your gun and shoot them," Brax retorted.

Ace rolled his eyes. "Okay, fine, no shuffleboard, but at least get me those damn plastic pink flamingos," Ace said, walking away from Chase and Brax.

Chase and Brax looked at each other and shrugged.

"You know Hope will not dig the pink flamingos," Brax said to Chase.

"Yeah, well, when Hope picks one up and whips at Ace, maybe he will get the point." Chase shrugged.

I gave Jacob a bath when Erik came in and sat down on the toilet lid, "So, I need to talk to you about something."

"What about?" I asked as I finished cleaning up Jacob, then let the water out of the tub. I grabbed a towel and wrapped it around Jacob, picking him up out of the bathtub. Erik took Jacob from me and dried him off.

"I got a letter from the University of Michigan to intern after graduation," he started to say.

I pulled out a folded piece of paper from my back pocket. "You mean this one?"

He looked at me as I looked at him, "Yeah, that would be the one. Where did you find that?"

"It doesn't matter. When were you going to tell me?" I asked.

"That's the thing. I figure if I ignored it, it would go away. Plus, I can wait to intern here," Erik reasoned.

"Erik, you can't give up your goals because of Jacob and me. It's not right," I explained.

"Alex, I still plan on reaching my goal, but I have two people who are more important to me and who I love," he said, looking at me.

"Isn't that right, little man?" Erik asked Jacob, who smiled at him. I knew there was no arguing with Erik about this. I let it go for the moment.

He stood up and carried Jacob into his room. I heard a knock at the door and went to answer it. I turned the handle. "Mr. Morgan?" I asked, confused.

"Hello, Alex. Mind if I come in?" Ace asked.

"Sure," I said, stepping aside. Ace came in, and I closed the door. Erik finished dressing Jacob and went out of his room.

Ace saw Jacob and crouched. "Well, hello, Jacob."

Jacob held onto Erik's leg and hid his face.

"Sorry, he became shy around anyone he doesn't know," I explained.

"Oh, it's perfectly okay," Ace said as he reached into his pocket. He pulled out a picture and held it up.

Jacob looked around Erik's leg at the picture and pointed at it, "Dada."

"Yes, this is your daddy," Ace explained.

Jacob let go of Erik, and we watched as he walked towards Ace and took the picture. He touched it, "Dada."

"Mr. Morgan, why do you have a picture of my late husband?" I asked Ace.

He looked at me. "Because Jake is my half brother."

Erik and I stood there, shocked.
