We settled into the new house nicely. Jake stayed home with Jacob until I finished school. Then he would go back to work. It gave him a chance to finish up therapy.
Grace and Ryan decided they wanted to elope before the baby came. We all got roped into it. I was Grace's maid of honor while Erik was Ryan's best man. Erik brought Gloria along, which is fine. I like Gloria.
It was a sweet, short wedding, which is fine with me. My feet were hurting since pregnancy affects you like that. Next week was Christmas, and I would head into my third month.
After the vows, we went to have something to eat. I was hungry for once, which was surprising. Grace and Ashley dug in. I couldn't help but laugh.
At one point, Gloria pulled me aside to talk to me.
"Alex, can we talk?" Gloria asked me.
"Yeah, sure," I said as we stepped away from everyone.
"I want to make sure that you're okay with Erik and me," Gloria said hesitantly.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" I asked.
"It's that you two were together, and you have a history. I don't want any weirdness between us," Gloria said sincerely.
"Gloria, it's okay," I assured her. "I think it's great." I smiled.
"Really?" She asked a bit surprised.
"Really," I replied.
"Oh, thank god," she sighed. "I was afraid there would be an issue, and I didn't want there to be any between us. I mean, if there were a problem, I would give Erik up," Gloria rambled.
"Gloria, it's fine," I said with a look.
"Alex, you are amazing, you know that?" Gloria mentioned.
"Gloria, I can't be with someone when my heart belongs to another person," I reasoned. It was true. I loved Erik, but as a friend. I was in love with Jake, plus we had a child together and one on the way.
As we talked, Jake and Erik walked over to us, "Dare I ask what you two are talking about?" Jake asked us.
"Just coming to an understanding," I said as I smiled.
"Well, I would like to steal my wife away," Jake said as he whisked me away. I giggled as he led me away from Erik and Gloria.
Erik looked at Gloria. "Don't give me that look," Gloria said.
He gave Gloria another look.
"Okay, fine. I wanted to make sure Alex was fine with us. She was my friend way before you, and you are her ex," Gloria reasoned.
Erik pulled Gloria close to him, wrapping his arms around her, "Yeah, but I realized something."
"What's that?" Gloria asked.
"I'm not in love with Alex," Erik admitted.
"Really?" She looked at him, confused.
"I thought I was, then one day I met this girl who served me a great cup of coffee," Erik said as he looked at Gloria and smiled.
Gloria blushed at the memory when Erik walked into the coffeehouse.
As much as I love celebrating the fact that my friends got married, I wanted to go home. Maggie had Jacob for the night, so it was only Jake and me.
It didn't take long once we reached the door to become unholy with each other. I laid on Jake's chest as he strokes my hair.
"I missed this," Jake said as he moved his hand.
I turned and looked at him, "Me too," I smiled. Jake pulled my lips to him as he captured them. Our kiss turned passionate as he rolled me over onto my back. We made love, and I got lost in his arms.
There was something about being here with the two of us. It was the way we spoke to each other without talking. Eventually, I fell asleep in his arms.
I felt him rub my back, and it comforted me, which I desperately missed.
The next day, I awoke, finding Jake gone. I wonder where he went. I got up and pulled on a robe. I came out to find a sight to see.
Jacob was sitting on the countertop while Jake cooked breakfast. I walked over to them and kissed Jake, then went above to Jacob.
"When did you pick up Jacob?" I asked Jake.
"About an hour ago, we wanted to surprise you," Jake smiled as Jacob took the spoon and stirred the batter.
"What's for breakfast?" I asked.
"Pancakes and bacon," Jake grinned. I couldn't help but laugh. He was so goofy.
I lifted Jacob off the counter and took him over to his high chair while Jake cook. I didn't want Jacob to get burned from the stove. I poured a cup of coffee and sat down at the table with Jacob.
Once Jake finished cooking, he placed the food on plates. He cut up a pancake for Jacob into bite-size. He set it down on Jacob's tray, then brought over two dishes for the two of us.
I started eating. The food was delicious. I ended up polishing off my food before Jake, even halfway finishes his meal.
"Hungry?" Jake asked me.
"," I said, causing him to laugh. I got up and got more food. The baby must be hungry.
After we finished eating, we got dressed and headed to the beach. That was the best part of living in a warm climate. You could always go to the beach.
I took a picture of Jake and Jacob. Jake was lying on his stomach on a towel with Jacob lying on Jake's back.
Jacob was a mini Jake, and I was happy. Jake had missed out on so much with Jacob. All his firsts, then I got an idea. It was time that Jake saw them all. Thank god Erik took all those videos.
When we got back, we ate something, then settled on the couch.
"What are we watching?" Jake asked me, confused.
"Movies that I think you will enjoy," I said with a look. Jake gave me a look back as I sat down next to him, snuggling into him. Jacob sat on his lap as I hit play.
We watched home movies of Jacob as he celebrated all his firsts. Jake watched intently as the video played. Then a part came on that caused Jake to break down in front of us. It was me showing Jacob pictures of Jake and telling Jacob who Jake was.
I comforted Jake as he cried.
"Daddy," Jacob said as we looked at him. "I wub you." Jacob grabbed Jake, hugging him.
"I love you, too, buddy," Jake said as he hugged him back.
After getting Jacob settled down for the night, Jake laid in bed, reading him a bedtime story as Jacob put next to him.
I leaned against the door frame and watched both of them. It was the best sight to see. Finally, our family was complete.
