A Memorable Christmas

With this our first Christmas together since Jake came back, I wanted it to be memorable and unique. I wanted him to enjoy it. What better way to do that then go tree shopping?

"Alex, it's ninety degrees outside! Jacob, leave that tree alone!" Jake ran after Jacob while I walked around the tree lot. You got to love Florida weather.

I walked around, looking at trees. It was utterly ridiculous. It was hot as hell, and the pregnancy didn't help. I gave up.

I sat down in the shade to cool off from the heat. All I wanted to do was that traditional things such as finding a tree to celebrate Christmas the right way. It was the first Christmas together as a family. My hormones got the best of me.

Jake walked up, carrying Jacob to see me crying.

"Alex, why are you crying?" Jake asked.

"Because we can't find a tree," I wailed.

Jake rolled his eyes. "Baby, we will find a tree," Jake assured me.

"How?" I bawled.

"Trust me, we will find it," Jake said as he turned and went to find a tree. He looked at Jacob. "Mommy is having a freaking meltdown over a tree."

Jacob shrugged.

They found a tree while I sat there and cried. Yep, I was emotional. Well, you would be too if you were pregnant.

Jake hauled the tree to the car, and we drove home. As I took care of Jacob, Jake brought the tree into the house. He grumbled as he did it.

We got the tree set up, then decorated it. Next, it was time for cookies. When you're pregnant, you develop a pregnancy brain. I burnt the cookies and cried.

Jake sighed. He took over baking duties since this pregnancy was crazier for us.

Every time something happened, I cried, and Jake sighed. Finally, he caught me before I cried, or Christmas would be miserable for everyone.

Every time I started bawling, Jake gave me a look and pointed at me. I stopped immediately. Yep, this happened frequently.

We were getting ready to have everyone over, and I was having problems finding things to wear since I had a small bump.

"Just wear my sweats," Jake suggested.

"And look like a hobo? No thanks," I said, putting my hand up.

Jake walked over to me and wrapped his arms around me. "Alex, you look sexy in anything, even my sweats." I gave him a look, and he gave me a smirk. I rolled my eyes and pulled out my old maternity clothes.

My husband was so unholy, but at least he found me attractive, so I can't complain.

I finally found a dress and dressed. I walked out, and Jake stared at me.

"What? Does it look bad?" I checked myself out, furrowing my eyebrows.

"Nope," Jake said as he moved in his spot, adjusting himself.

I looked at him, "Really?"

"What?" He gave me an innocent look.

"Later, boy," I said as I patted his chest.

"Aw, you're no fun," Jake whined.

"Uh, huh," I said, walking out of the room.

We got Jacob, then went downstairs. People started to arrive. I had to admit even with everything that happened leading up to this moment; it turned out to be a friendly gathering.

We had dinner. Jake cooked. I got kicked out of the kitchen so that I burned nothing. We all ate, and between Grace, Ashley, and I, we probably ate the most. I blame the pregnancies.

After dinner, we all gathered around as Jacob opened his gifts. I had to admit this year was much more fun than the last year since Jacob enjoyed opening his gifts over playing with the paper.

I watched Jake and Jacob play with the toys Jacob received. It warmed my heart to see them together since Jake acted like a big kid at Christmas.

Eventually, everyone left, and we put Jacob to bed, then settled in and looked at the tree all lit up. I snuggled into Jake, having something to drink.

"So, how was your first Christmas home?" I looked at Jake.

He looked at me. "Perfect." I smiled, and so did he. He leaned in and kissed me.

Eventually, we got up and went up to bed. I had a feeling this would be an entertaining Christmas night since I doubt Jake would let me sleep.

How right I was. As soon as we hit the bedroom, Jake quickly removed my clothes, and I did the same to him. My hormones were in overdrive as we went at it like jackrabbits. Unholy doesn't even describe what we did.

After many rounds, we collapsed on the bed, falling to sleep. He wrapped his arms around me from behind, placing his hand on my belly as I slept.

It was nice to be home with my family on Christmas. Having Jake here was the best gift I could ever ask for in my life. Expecting an addition to my family was even better. I had a feeling I knew what we're having a mother knows.

As I slept, I heard movement. I opened one eye to see Jake and Jacob tiptoeing into the room. Jake was carrying a tray with food on it. He set the tray down and helped Jacob up into the bed. Jacob crawled over to me and patted the side of my face. "Momma, wake up."

I yawned and rubbed my eyes. Then I looked at Jake and smiled.

"Morning, baby," I said as I pulled Jacob into a hug. I gave him kisses.

"What about me?" Jake pouted.

"Yeah, you too," I giggled.

"Gee, thanks." Jake rolled his eyes as he crawled into bed with us. "Morning beautiful."

"Morning handsome," I said as Jake leaned over and kissed me.

Jacob pushed us apart.

"Hey, buddy," Jake said to Jacob.

"I squished," Jacob said as we laughed.

That's when we both engulfed Jacob, causing him to giggle. Now, this was heaven. It was what I wanted.
