It's been a crazy few years. The boys have kept us on our toes like now.
"Ahh," I heard Gabriel yell. I went into the twin's room and facepalmed myself. Thomas and Richard were holding Gabriel up by his ankles and smirking.
"Will you put your brother down?" I yelled at the twins. Jake came walking past the bedroom and laughed. Some big help he is.
"We were having fun, Mom," Richard said to me.
"Hanging your little brother upside down by his ankles is not funny, Richard," I scolded.
"It is for us," Thomas interjected.
I gave Thomas a look. Jake walked into the room.
"Okay, put Gabriel down gently," Jake ordered the twins. They lowered Gabriel, who stood up.
Gabriel looked at the twins and shrugged.
Then we heard arguing.
"Give it back!" Jacob yelled.
"No!" Michael yelled back.
We went to find out what they were arguing about now.
"Mom, tell Michael to give me back my transformer," Jacob demanded.
"But I like Optimus Prime," Michael pouted. I looked at Jake. "It's your turn."
"Okay, fine," Jake sighed.
I left Jake to deal with Jacob and Michael as I went downstairs to fix lunch. I need a vacation like immediately.
There was a knock at the door, and I walked over to open it. Our friends walked in with their kids. That's all it took as the four older boys ran downstairs, almost tackling me.
Yes, the girls smote the boys. Jake came downstairs and joined us. The only one we were missing was Gabriel.
I went upstairs to check on him. I found him sitting on his bed. "Honey, why don't you come down?"
He shrugged. I took a seat next to him on the bed. He looked at me with his big blue eyes.
"Mommy, do you think they will forget about me?" Gabriel asked me.
"Who?" I said, looking into his blue eyes.
"Jacob, Michael, Richard, and Thomas," he said, looking at me with confusion.
"Baby, your brothers will never forget about you," I reassured Gabriel.
"Well, they like girls," Gabriel said with a shrug.
"Don't you like girls?" I asked him.
"No, girls have cooties," he told me. I couldn't help but laugh.
"Gabriel! Come on," Jacob yelled.
"Gotta jet! Bye, mom!" Gabriel ran out of his room, and I laughed. That was the thing about Gabriel. Nothing could keep him down for long.
I walked out of the room as all the kids went outside to play while we all talked.
I had a feeling more was to come with them, a mother knows.
As the boys started getting older, Jake returned to teaching, and I worked at the coffeehouse. It was nice to have a balance in my life. Plus, working got me out of the house, and I could be home with the kids and Jake timely.
Also, with the boys getting older, it was hard to get them together for a picture. Finally, I made sure I caught all the boys together for a photo. I know there would be a time when they would all be off on their own.
"Aw, come on, Mom," Richard yelled.
"Do we have to do this?" Thomas asked.
"Yes! Now get together. I want at least one picture," I yelled at them.
"Come on, Gabriel," Michael yelled.
"I'm coming," Gabriel yelled as he ran over to his brothers.
"Dang, he's slow," Richard huffed.
Smack!
"What was that for?" Richard asked Jacob as he rubbed the back of his head.
"That's for always teasing Gabriel, and you're next if you keep it up," Jacob said to Thomas.
Gabriel walked over as Jake walked to me.
"How's it going?" Jake asked me.
"It's trying to wrangle animals, and I'm the zookeeper," I sighed as Jake chuckled. That was my life with five sons.
They finally got together, and I finally got a picture of Gabriel, Jacob, Michael, Thomas, and Richard. I was glad to get a photo of them for once because god knows when I will get another.
After I got my photo and released them, they were happy about those figures. Jake and I walked back to the house, hand in hand.
"Did you ever think your life would turn out this way?" Jake asked me.
"Not in a million years, but it turned out for the better. When I first arrived in my freshman year in school, I was running from someone., I ran to others who ended up all wrong for me," I said to him.
He stopped me, "And how did it turn out for you?"
I turned and wrapped my arms around his neck. "It turned out that I needed to run to the right person, and I did."
He wrapped his arms around me as he crashed his lips into mine. He picked me up and carried me into the house.
"Jake! What about the boys?" I yelled.
"They're busy, and I'm fixed, so woman, you are all mine!" Jake yelled back.
With that, you know what happens next?
The day I stepped off that bus, I came here broken, only to meet three exciting guys who changed my life. It took one special guy to put me back together and show me how love should be with someone. That man gave me five sons, and I will love him forever.
