Austin's POV
Today was the day and I was nervous as hell. I was going to propose to Alan today. It was time, there was no one else on this Earth for me and if we only had so much time left. I wanted to do this and I wanted to do it right. I love him and I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him. I had picked out the ring for him nearly two years ago because I couldn't pass it up. It was perfect. And now was the time for me to officially ask him.
I rubbed Alan's back softly as he slept beside me. I've been up for a few hours now, just waiting for him to finally wake up. It was nice seeing him so at peace. He was the cutest sleeper too. I kissed the side of his head and saw a small smile pop up onto his face.
"I'm trying to sleep, you know," he whispered, not opening his eyes.
"I know, but it's almost noon and you've been sleeping since eight last night," I said quietly kissing his neck softly.
"I'm exhausted," he whined.
"I'm aware, but I'm bored and I have a surprise for you today."
"A surprise?"
"Yes, a surprise and I think you're going to love it."
"What is it?"
"You know better than to think I'm going to tell you."
"Well I still think you should tell me."
"You'll know later, trust me."
He groaned and turned away from me, "When is this happening?"
"Whenever I want," I said and got up from bed, "I'm going to go make us a five star meal of cereal, so I suggest you get out of bed now."
"I'm not hungry."
"Well you need to eat more, you're skin and bones and it's not good for you or going to help you get better if you're not eating."
"I know what's good for me. I just don't wanna throw it up later or something."
I went around to his side and got down on my knees in front of him, "I know, but you gotta eat, please?"
"Only if you carry me," he said with a pouty lip.
I rolled my eyes but scooped him up anyway and brought him to the kitchen. I set him in a chair at the table before I got us each a bowl of cereal.
I sat across from him and watched as he looked down at his food. He really needed to eat more. He used to eat tons and now he barely eats a thing. It worries me, but I knew it was just from his cancer. I was extremely worried about this and how often he was sleeping or how little, he had bags for days under his eyes but he slept so much most of the time it didn't make sense. Then with his fever he was always hot then he'd get cold and it was a back and forth with his coughing, whether it led to him throwing up of if he could just work through it.
This sucked and I just hoped chemo can help him.
"What are you looking at?" Alan asked looking at me confused.
I shook my head, "Just thinking about how beautiful you are."
He blushed, "Thanks, you're not too bad yourself."
I finished before Alan did and he, for once ate all his food. I was beyond happy and I just hoped this was a step in the right direction.
"Hey," I said standing behind him as he did the couple of dishes we made, "I'm proud of you."
He smiled and turned around placing his lips on mine. I wrapped my arms around his waist and pulled him closer to me. He ground himself into me softly and I moaned before pulling away.
