"Admin." The word rang in Romeo's head, haunting him. The name brought horrible memories and guilt. Not to mention the anger in her voice. Stella hated Romeo just as much as he hated the name 'Admin', and she made it obvious. I thought I'd feel a little better after I apologized to her for what happened, but I don't. She doesn't forgive me, and I won't forgive myself. Ever. I don't know why I even bothered to apologize. Like she said: Apologies can't reverse anything that happened, it won't fixed what I did. He heard something move behind him, so he clenched his fist and turned to see a skeleton. Luckily, nothing else was there. It lifted it's bow. Romeo clenched his teeth and punched it's jaw. It flung backwards and Romeo snatched the bow and arrows from it's grasp and quickly shot it at the skeleton before it could get to him. Well, now I have a bow, arrows, a sword, and my fists! Good weapons. He kind of wished there were more monsters to take his anger out on, but that skeleton would have to do.
He continued down the path and came across a bridge. It didn't look very stable, for it was already halfway broken down and the left side's rope was split near the end. That meant that if he wanted to hold onto something while crossing, he'd have to stick with the right side. He didn't feel very good about this bridge, but it didn't seem as if there was another way across. He carefully set a foot on the first wood plank. It creaked, but other than that it seemed fine. He slowly put his full weight on that foot as he continued slowly and carefully across the bridge. It suddenly began to sway, and he quickly grabbed onto the rope to keep his balance.
Step by step, he went across. Luckily, none of the planks broke under his feet. That was, until the end. Once he was near the edge of the bridge, one broke underfoot. He gasped and quickly grabbed onto the plank above. He glanced down and gulped at the sight of what seemed like a never ending drop. He lifted his eyes back above him and grabbed onto the plank with his left hand as well. He prayed he wouldn't fall as he pulled himself back onto the bridge. He let out a relieved sigh as he made it back up. He then army crawled the rest of the way across the bridge. Once he was on stable ground, he panted, I nearly died just now. He thought while glancing back at the dangerous bridge.
He stood up and continued down the path. Suddenly, he heard a scream. Stella? He whipped his head around to see her spiraling downwards. His heart skipped a beat as he watched the love of his life fall. Reacting quickly, he raced in her direction. He could feel his heart pounding in his chest as he tried to beat the unlikely odds of getting there before she hit the floor.
His feet seemed to glide across the ground faster than they've ever gone before. Once he made it below her, he extended his hands and braced for sudden impact.
She fell right into his open arms, and he made sure not to drop her. Her screaming slowly quieted and her hands that were covering her face slowly spread so she could see what was going on.
"R-Romeo?" She breathed. Her lime-green eyes met his night-like ones for what felt like the first time. Her view had suddenly changed on him. Maybe he really wasn't as bad as he was before. He had just saved her life! Thoughts began to race through her mind. She suddenly felt guilty for what she had said to him earlier.
"Stella, are you alright?" Worry covered his face. Stella tried to speak, but her mouth refused to respond. She just slowly nodded.
He sighed and carefully set her down. They stood closely and continued to stare until Stella averted her gaze, "Let's go."
Romeo's heart sunk. They continued down the path silently until Stella spoke. She kept her head low, "Thank you for saving me back there."
He turned to her, "Your welcome." He wanted to continue, saying something like, 'See? I've changed!' or 'Do you trust me now?', but he decided against it. Then, it was silence again and they kept walking. Suddenly, the path narrowed once again. At least this was a stable path. But once again, there was no visible end to the pit below. Stella slipped off her heels and put them in her inventory, "I'm not going to make the same mistake twice. Now let's go." She offered him a smile that made his heart flutter. Romeo nodded and followed behind her.
They began to cross, and much to their dismay, monsters dropped from the ceiling preventing them from proceeding or turning back. They had to fight their way out of this one.
Romeo squeezed past Stella, careful not to knock either of them off the edge, "Stay close to me." He drew his bow and arrow as Stella drew a pickaxe, "I should've brought a better weapon." She mumbled. They defeated the monsters in their way or creeping up behind. Romeo shot the last monster on his side, a creeper, from a distance before it could light as Stella repeatedly stabbed a zombie until it poofed. "Violent," Romeo laughed. Stella shrugged, "It was either him or me, and I wasn't going to let you save me just for me to die a few minutes later."
They continued down the path until they found, "The chest!" Stella gasped, "Finally! I'm so done with this place."
They raced towards it. Right as she put her hand on it, the floor tilted. They both screamed as the ground swung unevenly in both directions below them. Stella gripped onto the chest, it was stuck to the floor. And Romeo quickly grabbed onto a pole sticking out of the ground near the chest. They looked down to see a never ending drop, "How many endless drops are there in this awful place?" Stella rolled her eyes. Romeo brought his gaze back up to her, "No kidding, but if we want to stop dangling and get on even ground, we might want to grab the key."
"Good idea." Stella lifted one of her hands to open the chest right as the floor tilted to the left. She gritted her teeth and grabbed the lid and swung it open. She grabbed a key and the lid slammed shut. The ground rumbled as it tilted right a little bit to be flat once again. Now they were both lying on the ground. They panted for a moment before standing back up on their feet. "We did it." Stella smiled. She lifted the large key up in the air.
"Congratulations!" A voice boomed through the air. They both jumped and looked around for the source, but nobody else was seen. Romeo's brows furrowed, "Who-"
"You've completed the room of 'balance' and retrieved the key! Hopefully you haven't lost any lives through this.. Eh, who am I kidding? I don't care!" The man laughed. Romeo grumbled, "It's a recording. It must be giving us instructions on what to do next. Well, if he ever stops laughing."
Then, the voice cleared his throat and continued. Stella and Romeo followed the instructions that he stated.
They entered the box and the doors began to shut, "Let's hope this is fast." Stella mumbled, "I'm sort of claustrophobic." She said it quietly as if she didn't want Romeo to overhear her, but he did. Then, it was completely dark until a red light lit the box. Then, it jolted quickly. They tried to keep their balance, but Romeo fell over, knocking both him and Stella over. They opened their eyes to see each other's faces centimeters apart. He landed on top of her! His hands and elbows were planted on the ground right outside of her head. They blinked a few times and the door suddenly opened.
"Ooh, what's going on in here? Need some privacy?"
They turned their heads to see Carson smile at them, then raised his brows up and down teasingly. Aiden, Cassie, and Delcie stood beside him. Their faces flamed red. Romeo quickly stood up, "W-wha-what? N-No. We were- we just.. fell. And landed like that." He itched his neck. His face matched his hair.
Stella stood up beside him and sped out of the box. She tilted her head down so that her hair covered her red face.
"You fell when you passed the room of 'balance'? Not very likely. I think you're trying to hide something from us." Aiden teased as well. Stella held her hands up in surrender, "It's the truth, we swear!"
XD !!! I can't help it. I just had to. Who else thinks that Romeo and Stella would be a really cute couple? Lol who am I kidding, I think almost every ship is adorable. But this one is my favorite new one introduced in the book.
