~Chance's POV~
I held the gun in my hand, a finger on the trigger. I was fully aware what I was doing and how I was doing it. Holding down the trigger, it was too late to realize my brothers standing in the doorway of my room, watching me fall to the floor with a pile of blood lying around me. I didn't want them to see me like this. But I can't say I feel any regret.
My name is Chance Heller, the oldest sibling out of the three of us. Theo is the youngest and Liam's the middle child, both whom I love very much. We live with our parents, but I don't think they care or know of our existence. That's fine with me though.
"Rise and shine, brothers!" I am sitting on the carpet in the middle of their shared room, flapping my wings in the direction of their bunk bed. "Come on, today's the day!" Theo woke up first, gripping his blanket closely to his chest. I huffed. Getting up, I tugged the blanket off of him as much as I could.
Liam turned to roll off the bed, but I flew up and caught him before it happened. "You almost got hurt, Liam. But don't worry, your big brother's here." His eyes opened with a couple of blinking. I set him on the floor so he could stand for himself, waiting for Theo to get out of bed.
"What's today?" Theo asked. My eyes shone at the question, although a little upset he forgot. I can't blame him though, he's had a lot on his plate. Both of them have. I respond with, "We promised to leave home one day. Today is that official day!"
They looked at me with confused looks. Theo asked, "We have to go this early? It's not even the morning yet." I took the digital clock sitting on the drawer next to their beds, it said 10:14 AM on it. "It's morning. Can we please go today? I don't want to wait until you're both dead." Liam flinched at the last word, avoiding my eyes.
Theo yawned and rubbed at his eyes with his sleeve. "Let's go then." "Wh- Are we really doing this?" You would think the younger child would ask to go somewhere, but with us, it's pretty much the opposite.
I am a smiling mess when we go outside. I spread my wings and start flying above them, it feels amazing to feel the breeze through my feathers. "Woohoo!" I exclaimed, zooming through the sky. My brothers were running below me trying to keep up, so I continued to fly. Running away wasn't so bad after all, it finally feels a lot better like this. Out on our own. In the hands of nature. What else could we want?
