My brothers and I are making our way through our town, getting a couple stares and gasps from the people around us. Here is one problem about being an angel, following my little brothers around. I am visible to everyone. Now, as much as I'd love them to realize I'm still around, even if they're strangers, it's not the same thing to the others. We started to separate from each other when a bunch of people surrounded me, pulling my wings, pinching me to see if it'd hurt.
"Are you a real angel?"
"Can you be my angel?"
"I want an angel. Can I have you?"
I couldn't pull away, or else it'd hurt, so I just stood there awkwardly with my brothers off somewhere. They were probably lost without me there.
I tried fixing my position by standing taller, smiling softly at the curious people. "Yes to the first question, I am a real angel. For the other questions, I have a family to protect, so I can not be any of your angels." I continued, trying to get past them to get to my brothers. But instead, the crowd was larger. "I'm sorry, can you please move? I have to-"
I fell down. Too many of them were tugging at my wings, making me lose my balance and slipping. My vision started to grow blurry. All I could hear is shouting, all I could feel were my limbs being pulled and tugged. I couldn't see or hear Theo or Liam anymore.
My wings started flapping, making the people back off of them almost instantly. I can't lose my siblings. Not today, not right now, not ever. "Liam! Theo!" I shouted amongst the crowd, my wings taking charge in flight. "Come on wings, don't fail me now." I finally get away from the crowded space, but I drop on my side, my wings trying to prevent the fall.
I can faintly see my brothers coming my way. I can't hear them, but I can hardly see their mouths moving. I feel my body being lifted off the ground, unsure if it's them or the crowd I escaped from. Thank the heavens, I'm already dead, because I wouldn't have wanted to die this way.
"--------??" Their words sound fuzzy to my ears. Should I try to listen better? I don't know if it's me that's making it hard to hear all of a sudden, until my eyes close completely. I'm not sick or anything, nor do I have any kind of pain anywhere. It's just.... a lot..... harder...... to focus. "--------! Are you okay, --------?!"
"Theo, get his other side. There's a tree up ahead, we'll bring him there." I fall asleep, in my own dream world. Blocking out all other noises. Even my own thoughts.
