every single time
oh, every single time
the boy likes the girl
the girl likes the boy
(God forbid they don't
stumble upon each other
in the most cliché way)
first, it is a "skinny love"
then the boy gets
the courage
to ask the girl out
and of course,
the girl says yes
but in the background
where nobody
pays attention
there is the boy
that has admired
the girl from
afar
very afar it seems
if not even
the girl noticed him
nor the boy
because they are
too busy drowning
in their own love
but the other boy's love
for the girl
doesn't really matter,
does it?
but if
movies
and
books
actually added
a bit of fiction
into their
story lines,
then the story
would take on two love lives
including:
the cliché couple
and the other boy
and his new found
mutual love
but nobody
pays attention
to the saddest,
saddest, i believe,
love story
of unrequited love
and it is
all too often
that there is
somebody forgotten
when the boy
with the charming smile
registers into a school
and catches a certain
girl's attention
or the girl with
dazzling eyes
gets her coffee
in that local shop
where the popular boy
works as a barista
there is pity
and sympathy
i feel for the
characters that
fall in love
with somebody else's
soul mate
[ for the lack
of a better term, yes? ]
probably because
this isn't fiction
it's something real
and we never
find out
if they
have the
happy ending
because everyone's
too focused
on the
meant-to-be
couple
because true love
apparently
is much, much
more fascinating
