people always tell me that human life
is a gift
but is it really?
is humanity really
something to praise,
to look upon,
to desire,
to cherish?
it really is funny
[ or maybe it's not ]
when people say that
when it seems that most
human life is
like said before, spent
"one. suffering
two. recovering from suffering"
whether we spend it suffering
from depression,
insecurity,
addiction,
disease,
prejudice,
abuse
[ does it seem like a gift now? ]
when we spend our time
fighting
people
and
society
and
our minds
and
life itself
and sometimes,
ourselves
so let's dismiss
[ or just ignore, that seems to be
what many people do ]
what has been thought of
of human life
let's think
about who lives
and who dies
because even as i say this
life seems more and more
pointless
if you really look at it
but it seems to me
that the good people,
the ones that deserve life
die
and the bad people
the ones that like to take life
live
people always tell me that human life
is a gift
but is it really?
