the problem with society

the problem with society is
                                        if i sleep
               with numerous girls
                                              i'm going to hell
     but if i sleep
             with numerous boys
                                                then i'm a whore
the problem with society is
i'm just a teenager
looking for attention
and making up excuses
to hate authority
whenever i begin
my sentence with
"the problem with society is"
there's a difference
between a black man
holding a gun
and a white man
holding a gun
( what is it? )
ask the white man
holding the gun
to the black man's head
                                 ask the little boy whose
parents told him
"don't wave that water gun around"
"why?" he asked
the problem with society is
their only answer was:
"the color of your skin"
the problem with society is
the display of
my shoulders
my legs
my stomach
my chest
is scandalous
and if i get raped
                           well, darling, it was
                                          your fault
                      for wearing that short dress
the problem with society is
                            the victim gets blamed
       "you shouldn't wear such
tight clothes"
          "you shouldn't have been out at night"
          "you must've provoked him/her"
                           i can walk around naked
           on the street
                               and that still wouldn't
            give anyone the right
                         to assault me in any
                           wayshapeorform
the problem with society is
            they believe
                           the victim is never male
                            and if he is
                the only thing people will say is
                   (you could've fought back)
                    (you should've enjoyed it)
the problem with society is
                        when people see
                        [they see]
                a girl wearing a hijab  
                     [a terrorist]
a transgender man walking down the street
                          [a freak]
             a gay couple holding hands
                          [unnatural]
a group of teenagers
[ignorant and carefree]
a black boy wearing a hoodie
                            [thug]
a Hispanic man on his way to his job
                      [criminal]
            a girl in a short skirt
                   [asking for it]
       anyone with depression
  [get over it, you're just asking for attention]
            anyone with anxiety
   [stop being so nervous and calm down!]
    an underweight boy
[eat more]
    an overweight girl
[eat less]
(as if it's that easy)
the problem with society is
                         the world is only black and white
                       instead of closing your minds
                      why not pry them open
              let the black and white mix
                   to create varying shades of grey
                   to make colors you've never seen
                   do not let the uncertainty
                                    the unknown
                                    the new
                                    the changes
                                    the fear
                                          keep you in a box
             let all the colors of the rainbow
                                bring life to this
                     otherwise dull world
the problem with society is
   there is a notion that perfection is achievable
the problem with society is
          the book is still judged by its cover
the problem with society is
           our mental state isn't validated
the problem with society is
                my body isn't mine
                       and neither are my decisions
the problem with society is
             we convince ourselves that true love exists
         we still fool ourselves into thinking
equality is tangible
           but maybe the last two
                             aren't all that bad
