Mia's P.O.V

I didn't remember a thing. All I remember was my brother Thomas who was there beside me in the box, and my name... or at least, the name they gave me, Amelia, Mia. We were sent into The Maze in a box full of supplies. The box travelled up to the unknown place, sending chills down my spine and nauseous feeling down the gut. Thomas threw up several times, and so did I. As soon as the box arrived at that place, 30 boys was around the box, looking extremely curious of what's coming inside the box.

"Day one, Greenie, Rise and shine!" a tall blonde guy with weird eyebrows greeted us.

Thomas woke up and climbed up the box and started to run.

'Yay we got a runner,' someone shouted.

"There's another one," the weird-eyebrow-guy said again. "A girl, she passed out," he said.

"Med-Jacks!" The guy shouted.

The next thing I knew, I was in a building they called as Homestead. They tucked me in the bed, patched me up and waited for me to wake up. I believed I was out for hours when I found a tall boy, about 5'10"tall with dirty blonde hair waited beside me.

"Hey, name's Newt. I'm the second command in the glade. Do you remember your name?" He asked.

"The name is Mia," I said as I tried to sit down but ended up puking the fluids inside my churning gut.

"Do you remember the guy coming up with you?" he asked again.

"He's my brother, Thomas. That's all I remembered," I answered as another puke comes out.

"I'll get Jeff to give you the anti-nausea meds," Newt said in a deep British accent.

"Hey Jeff, She needs the meds," Newt said as he called one of the dark-skinned med-jack to get me the meds.

"I'll show you around, come on, " Newt said as he offered me a piggyback.

"Is it okay for me to hop on your back?" She asked.

"No, not a slight tiny bit. Plus you're not feeling good. So, it's okay to hop on my back," He said, squatting down so that I could climb on his back. Newt seemed so familiar to me. I thought I had seen him somewhere. But I couldn't remember that part.

Newt carried me on his back while giving me a tour around the glade. I rested my head on his shoulder. It was hot and sunny down the glade, so the smell of his elbow grease could be smelled. Not that I minded that though. I listened to his brief explanation of all the building around the glade. Then he stopped by the wall, the big walls surrounding us from the 4 different directions. He told me not to go pass that wall. Only Runners could go beyond that wall. And Runners were chosen, nobody could pick a job as a runner.

He also told me that I'll have to try-out for all the jobs starting from tomorrow. He introduced me to Gally, Minho, Zart, Winston, Alby, Chuck, Siggy or what he called Frypan, Clint and Jeff. Newt than took me to the Track-Hoe's garden and showed me the apple tree he had been growing for the last three years. The apple blossoms were very pretty.

"It's beautiful," I said as I looked at the tree. "Can I sit under the tree. I might be hurting your back by now," I chuckled as he let me down and sit under his apple tree.

"It's Macintosh by the way," Newt smiled as he stated the breed of the apple.

"Can I just be one of the track-hoes without trying out the other jobs?" I asked.

"Why though?" he asked.

"First, I can't be a builder because I wasn't that strong. I couldn't be a runner because of asthma. I can't be working with bloods so no way I could be one of the med-jacks nor slicers. I am not good at mending corpse so... I guess not anywhere near the baggers. I can cook but Thomas never favours my cooking," I explained.

"Just try out working in the kitchen with Fry and Track-Hoes, for me?" He proposed. It wasn't that bad for me.

"We need to get you ready for the bonfire though. Plus, you can stay with me in my room, until the builders are ready with your cottage." Newt smiled.

"Room?" I looked at him, confused. "Aren't we supposed to sleep on a hammock? Tommy got his own hammock just now." I looked at Chuck and Thomas who had just finish setting up the hammock.

"You were the only girl, Alby thought that it would be good if you have a private room instead of sharing a place to sleep together with the boys." Newt stated as he pulled my hand gently to the mouth of one of the gates.

"Thank you, Newt," I walked along with him.

"Don't go beyond those walls. The only one who could go in there are the runners." Newt paused, "It's dangerous," He continued as I nodded my head.

As soon as Newt stopped, two boys came out of the maze, one of them is Minho. The sexy guy in blue button up shirt and one of the other... I didn't know him.

Thomas' POV

I face-planted right after I sprinted a few meters from the box. I had no idea where I was. I was clueless. I didn't remember my name. I only knew I had my sister with me when I was sent up in the box. She was with me. What is this place? Where am I? why can't I remember my name? Why were we surrounded by huge walls? What is behind those walls? Those questions were at the top of my head when I tried to get up after I sprinted closer to the walls. Then the guy who helped me out the box punched me as I curiously moved closer to the walls. He said he had just helped me. the next thing i knew, i was thrown into some sort of a concrete jail with wooden bars it's some feet under. one of them called the jail a pit. soon after that, they got me up. what for? they said it was some sort of bonfire.
