Chapter 11

You both have now arrived at this pizza place, not too fancy & not too shabby. Since Brendon suggested this place, you request him to do the order & surprise you. He just laughs at your cute silly request but oblige anyway. The waitress smile at both of you before leaving the table. "Soooo,...what happened?" You asked, breaking the little silence after the waitress left. "Hmm?" Brendon looks puzzled. "Ya know, the reason why we're here now?" You finish with a grin. "Oh, that. Hahaa. You will not believe me but Sarah is coming over to my house this weekend. I'm not in the mood for her so I'll just let my parents deal with it." Both of you share a fit of laughter together. "Seriously?? Why is she like that?" You let out a bit more giggles. "Well, that's Sarah. Heed my warning, not to date any Sarah later on in your life." Again, both of you laugh out loud that you think the whole restaurant could hear. The pizza finally arrive as the laughter dies down.

You are very sure that these moments you're spending with Brendon will be the highlights of your high school life. The hatred shared between you guys for quite some time before has long begone. Both of you has finally make peace. And you never expect to be this close to Brendon. But whatever, you like it. You like the feeling of catching him staring at you then blushes. He also enjoys your laugh when he cracks some stupid jokes. At some point, both of you seems to agree that the two of you would make a cute couple but neither would admit their feelings for each other yet.

The last pizza slice is finished by Brendon after arguing on who should have it since both of you are very full. "I think I just gained weight." You said, then laugh together with Brendon. "I'm thinking of going to the park after this maybe? You know, strolling around to lose some of these fats." He pats his tummy while suggesting the idea and you can't help the small giggles that escaped your lips. You contemplated in your mind for a while. You did promise your mother to be back home after you've finished your lunch. But miss a chance with Brendon? You wouldn't do that. A tap on your shoulder brought you back to reality. "Soooo...you in? I don't wanna go back home yet. Sarah's probably still there." Hearing Brendon said that gives you this hurtful feeling a bit. So he just wanna go to the park so that he won't bump into Sarah? & you thought that he's trying to be sweet. You accidentally let out a sigh. Welp, this is still part of the deal, so you need to help him. But little did you know, Brendon is sure that Sarah has gone back by now. He just didn't want to end the date yet. Oh, how he wish he could spend more time with you. You lift your head and look at him. "Ok then." It feels hard to give him a smile now.

The two of you make your way out of the restaurant in silent. Brendon notices your sudden change in mood but he isn't sure why. Still, he tries to cheer you up, telling you funny stories, jokes, & stuff. And because it's Brendon, you couldn't contain your laughter. 'He sure knows how to cheer me up', you think to yourself. Forgetting the incident from before, you decide to play along with the 'date'. It could be said that your afternoon is well spent, both of you sharing stories and knowing each other more & you can't help but to fall deeper with his personalities and characters. Suddenly, you feel your phone vibrates and receive a text from your mom asking 'shouldn't you be home by now?' you're kinda frustrated that your 'date' is interrupted. You were having so much fun, even though it's just talking, and you think Brendon is enjoying himself too.

"Mama needs her baby boo now?" Again, Brendon makes you laugh. "Yeah, kinda." "I can walk you home." Brendon then gives you an angelic smile. Your knees almost got weak. But you never tell your mom about going out with Brendon. And the last time you check, Brendon is on your mom's dislike list, after the incident where you came home, crying, because of Brendon being a jerk. Well, he isn't anymore. But you can't simply tell your mom that you are currently falling for the person who hurt you before. That would be too complicated. "Brendon, I-I didn't tell my mom that I'm going out with you." You decide to just be honest. Brendon stares at you with a blank expression for a moment, but the smile returns on his face. "It's okay." He seems to understand your situation. Damn, does he need to be the best every single time?? "So... I guess this is goodbye?" You turn your head and look at him. Is that a smirk on his face? "Who says it's goodbye? See ya around at school!"

Without warning, he hugs you a bit and kisses your cheek. That's it. No more hiding your blush. Your face is as red as a tomato right now. He let go and chuckles at your reaction. "Thanks for today, babe." His thumb caresses your cheek for a brief moment before he turns around and walk his way back home. You stand still until reality finally hits you. You put a hand on one of your cheeks, the one that Brendon just kissed. "You're welcome, love." You whisper to yourself.
