Eyes on You

Chapter 15

Apparently, not everyone heard the rumors of that past incident from Sports Day, including your group of friends except F/n. You decide to keep it that way. But there's one thing that neither F/n knows about; that small crush you developed towards Brendon these past weeks. So one day, during recess, both you and F/n are with your other friends, having lunch together as usual. Patrick would join once in a while (not today), though F/n isn't ready to tell the others of their relationship. You are the only one that know so far. You also constantly remind her not to tell the others of the deal you made with Brendon. Because you kinda have this feeling that the whole thing about the deal isn't done yet and is still complicated. You wonder, why Brendon hasn't call or text you lately. He seems a bit distanced.

Your thoughts are interrupted by one of your friends, "OMG guys, I have this hot news. You gotta listen." She leans forward, urging the rest to come closer. "I heard that Brendon and Sarah are getting back together!" That friend of yours slightly whispers to the whole group, though she did sound surprise. You suddenly choke on nothing, coughing so hard and loud that not only the faces of your group of friends turn to look at you but also the whole cafeteria. "Whoa, you okay there Y/n?" One of the guys asked, concerned. None of them dare to tease you with Brendon considering the condition you're in now. Your eyes get watery as your cough slows down. "I-I'm... *cough* f-fine."

Again, your mind wanders around somewhere, completely ignoring the others conversation on God knows what. So...is that the reason why he hasn't contact you lately? He also doesn't require your assistance anymore? But, why hasn't he said anything about it? For sure you need to know. Both of you made a deal, afterall. "Hey, you good?" A tap on your shoulder brings you back to reality. "Yeah. Everything's okay, F/n." You smile at her, trying so hard to hide your true emotion right now. You can't help the sad feeling inside but can't show since no one knows. "Hey, you guys. I'm leaving now, got some revision to do. I've a math quiz today!" You told the group. You even sounded convincing enough so that none of them would suspect anything.

You walk along the hallway, aimlessly going nowhere. 'Why it's bugging me so much? I feel nothing towards him.' You always deny it. Maybe that's why things are getting complicated. You suddenly stop dead in your track, earning weird looks from a few passersby. 'Wait, if they are getting back together, this means...things are back like before?!' Your mind brings you back to those bad moments where you are constantly got picked up by both Brendon's and Sarah's groups. Only worse, coz they probably ganged up to bully you. You almost have a panic attack in the middle of the hallway, but are keeping yourself together so that you don't break down right there and then. You quickly snap back to reality and search for the nearest washroom. You just need some time alone to let it all out.

You enter one of the stalls and sit on the toilet bowl. You finally cry in silence, not trying to attract the attention from anyone using the washroom as well. You're sad coz you are actually getting along very well with him, a person who used to bully you. But the most painful part is, you have fallen for him, and he decides to break your heart just like that? You are mad at him yet can't fully blame him since you never confess your feelings. Ugh, everything is messing with your sanity. You wipe your tears away, then sigh. You initially thought that this year would end good. But you'll be living with fear after this, and be extra careful to not mess with them.
