Y/n POV

I started sobbing. Speaking my lines and letting go of everything I was nervous about felt so amazing. The monologue I was speaking was from a dramatic scene between Megan and her father. They just had a huge argument and Megan finally got the chance to let everything she wanted to say off her chest.

People think acting is easy and to that I say "HA!" When I was rehearsing that monologue and memorizing the lines, I was exhausted afterwards. Emotionally drained. But that's the thrill I get out of it. I'm so happy I memorized all the lines or else I would look like a total fool coming in and looking so out of character.

I noticed out of the corner of my eye that Ms. Dean and Mr. Francis were taking and passing notes to each other. It made me nervous but I just brushed it off.

I sniffed my nose because I was still crying and said, "I love you, dad. But I can't stay here and watch you drink yourself to death over mom". I turned my back to them and started walking away. I only took about two steps though before I turned around wiping my eyes.

"Scene" I finished. I thought I had done better when I rehearsed it at home.

Crap.

They didn't clap or anything just started writing and sharing notes on their clipboards. They didn't say anything for about 30 seconds. It felt like hours of me standing there awkwardly. I just wanted to leave. I was so disappointed in the outcome of my performance.

Ugh.

"Thank you, y/n. There are only a few more auditions and then we will come back out and call you back if we think you are qualified to move on." Ms. Dean said with a toothy smile.

"Thank you" I said as I walked up to the table and shook all their hands. I walked out of the room and slowly closed the door trying not to slam it.

I went back into the waiting room and didn't say anything. I didn't want to talk to Violet or Jane. I overheard Violet talking about how good she did with Jane. I just wanted cry.

Time Skip

After a few more additions, everyone waited in agony wanting to know who moved on and who would be leaving. It kind of felt like something straight out of that tv show, The Four.

(*ques the dramatic/suspenseful music* lol)

A little while later, the director and producer came out like before.

"I am going to read a list of names and these will be the people who stay. We want to thank you all for coming. It was very hard to narrow the group down. You are all very talented and we want to remind you that this is not the end of you career. Keep striving for your goal!"

Yes, yes, very inspirational, Mr. Michael, but could you please read the names!

I heard about 7 names but none of which mattered to me.

"...Amy Parker and Violet Martin! Congrats to all who are staying and to those who are leaving, thank you for coming and have a great rest of you week. The names who we have called-"

"I'll wait for you outside, Violet." I said ignoring the Mr. Michael. Everything was muffled. I just really wanted to cry for real this time. I knew I had to hold it in to show that I didn't need this stupid movie (even though it was a beautiful story) and I didn't need Mr. Michael or Ms. Dean and that one day I would prove them wrong.

I stopped at the water fountain in the hallway and then I heard, "y/n y/l/n, where are you going?" I turned around and saw Mr. Michael. He had a confused look on his face.

I slapped on a smile and said "I'm going to wait outside for Violet, I came here with her. Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity, Mr. Michael." He stilled looked confused.

"But why, I called your name out there didn't I?"

"No?"

He started whipping through all his papers and said, "Oh! My apologies, y/n. Your name is on the back, I must have missed it. We will call you back into the audition room when it's your turn." He said as he led me back into the waiting room.

Oh my god I'm staying! I made it through!

"I'm speechless. Thank you Mr. Michael!"

"Sorry to scare you kid" he said. I just walked back in laughing to myself. I couldn't believe it. I sat back down next to Violet.

"What are you doing, y/n? I thought you were going to wait for us outside?" Violet said.

"Well get this, I was and then Mr. Michael came back and got me. My name was on the back of the sheet, he meant to call me!" I said with a smile from ear to ear.

"Shame..." I heard her say under her breath.

"Excuse me?" I snapped.

"Less competition the better." She mumbles again. I just stared at her in shock. I can't believe she was going against me like an enemy or something.

"Yeah, well we'll just see who comes out on top..." I whispered to her. I hope I made that bitch real nervous.

Time Skip

After they called everyone including Violet, I obviously knew I was the last one.

The secretary came out and said, "y/n!"

I got up and walked to the audition room. They were sitting at the table once again but this time with one chair on the other side.

"Hello, y/n! Take a seat." Ms. Evans said adjusting in her chair.

"Hi again" I said.

"So we are just going to ask you a few questions and you just answer them in your honest opinion. Got it?" I nodded. "So first, how to do you like the script?" ... they asked a bunch of questions including what kind of family I come from, do I love my brother, how can I relate to the character, etc. but then she asked me this one question that shocked me at first. "Have you had your first kiss?"

"I'm s-sorry?" I said stuttering.

"Have you had your first kiss yet, y/n?" Mr. Francis repeats.

"Ummm, n-no I haven't. No," he laughed to himself. I laughed to myself trying to make myself feel less awkward even though I gave them a bit of information about my love life, which was absolutely awkward?!?

"Good and lastly, what part of you do you think makes you different or special compared to the other girls? Something you could provide that others might not be able to?"

"I don't really know. Maybe my leadership skills? I'm the captain of the softball team at school and I have been in most of my school productions. When working on the shows I come up with a lot of ideas. Some are really great and really help the show progress." I shrug. "And once I get to know people better, I'm a lot less shy and awkward," they all laughed.

"You are not shy, Y/n. Nor are you awkward." I felt a bit of relief after Ms. Evans said that considering she was probably the toughest one out of all four of them. "Thank you deer, we will call you back in if you continue on."

"Thank you." And I left, waiting in vain once again to find out if I moved on. I didn't pay any mind to Violet. I hope she trips and falls down a flight of stairs. No, even worse... I hope she stubs her pinky toe.
