Lourdes and I had been getting along a lot better since the day Luann ditched me. She even salvaged our friendship all of her own accord. It meant a lot to me, not that she'd ever know. I didn't plan on telling her that.
We'd been arguing a lot less, and she was a lot less cold to me. Or maybe it was the other way around. However, we still didn't share much personal stuff. Which was kind of annoying because I know nothing about her.
Today, however, was a different story. She had me on another cleaning spree and she was practically jumping around the house. She had even woken me up at the crack of dawn, something I definitely wasn't used to.
"Remind me again why we're cleaning at 10 o'clock on a Saturday morning?" I yawned. I hadn't even had coffee or breakfast yet. This was a little extreme.
"Because, silly," she said as she swept around me with a pile of clothes, "Bennett's coming today! Well, and Luann and Vienna too, of course." She practically spat out Vienna's name. I rolled my eyes with another yawn as I moved a pile of my own things into the spare room. "Ah, ah," She grabbed the pile from my hands. "You're moving up to the loft. Vienna and Bennett are spending the weekend." She scaled the stairs to the loft and was back down in mere seconds.
"Wait, I'm sharing with you?" I asked in shock. She laughed.
"No, I'm taking the couch. You don't want to share a room with me." She pushed me into the spare room.
"Well, why not?" I asked, confused.
"Because I'm an insomniac. I'd just keep you up all night with my tossing and turning, not to mention my reading and listening to music." She gave me a small smile. "Now, strip the sheets and stuff so I can bring them to the launders. I only have one spare you know. And that's it."
She disappeared from the doorway and left me to take the sheets off. I rolled my eyes and did as I was told. She came back with a bin with her own sheets and dirty clothes. I dropped my sheets in and gathered my own dirty clothes to toss in.
"I'll be back in a bit, wanna clean your things up and bring the necessary items upstairs?" She asked.
"Yeah, sure," I said through another yawn. She left with a wink and I did my part of the cleaning.
After 15 minutes or so, I heard the door open again. I peeked out of the room, as I had just finished cleaning the en-suite. Lourdes was kicking off her shoes, holding two coffees and a pastry bag. She looked up and saw me with a grin.
"A thank you, for helping me out with the cleaning today." She handed me a cup, and we sat at the counter. I took a sip. Americano. "I didn't know what to get you, so I just got you the same order as you had your first day here. I hope that's okay." She slid a blueberry muffin across the counter to me. I took another sip of coffee, allowing the caffeine to seep into my blood to wake me up.
"It's perfect, thanks." I took a bite of the muffin with a small smile. "How'd you remember that order?"
"Please," She waved her hand. "I memorize all the regulars' orders. Yours was a simple piece of pie."
"It's cake," I corrected her. "A piece of cake." She rolled her eyes.
"Still pudding all the same," Her British accent appeared thickly as she spoke. She laughed as she saw the look on my face. "You seem to forget I lived in London half my life. I'm planning on going back for a few years after I graduate and have enough money. I miss it."
"Well, you're always able to come to stay with my family, once I'm allowed back of course." The offer left my mouth before I could even think about what I was saying. She smiled, taking a bite of her croissant.
