She had trouble falling asleep, but what else was new? Evan was certain she hadn't gotten a good night's sleep in forever.

Staring into the mirror, she poked her face gently, traced faint scars with her finger. It had become a ritual, almost. To stare in the mirror and try to remember what she had done in those missing months. To remember how she got the scars, why she looked so haunted and why her chest felt so empty.

Even when she was surrounded by others, Evanna felt lonely. Sometimes it even made her feel lonelier than when she was by herself.

Letting out a deep sigh, Evan leaned forward and let her forehead softly collide with the cold mirror. She let her eyes fall shut. She wasn't sure what she was trying to think of, but anything other than the uncertainty would do. Anything that wouldn't drive her crazy.

     It didn't work.

Brown eyes, it was all she saw. They followed her everywhere. Evan both hated and cherished them. Although she felt watched by them, judged by them –  she was grateful. It felt as if they were looking out for her.

A chuckle slipped past her lips. She sounded ripe for a mental institution. Pulling back, Evan glanced at herself one last time before turning around and exiting the bathroom, turning the lights off behind her.

Darkness crept into the room without the bathroom light. There was a single desk lamp. Its bulb needed to be changed. Evan caught it flickering sometimes. Shuffling back to her bed, she let herself fall onto the mattress. A puff of air was forced from her.

Finally, when the moon had already passed its peak, sleep caught on to her.

"If you had the chance, would you go back?"

Evan stared at a boy with a faded face. She stared at a girl who wasn't her, or...? They sat next to each other, not close enough to touch but enough to feel the warmth of the other. Evanna saw the hollow eyes of the girl who wasn't her.

The girl looked rougher. She looked emptier than Evan had felt in the months after regaining her memory. Her eyes wouldn't avert from the fire. The boy's eyes were fixed on the girl, though. He was searching for something. Both Evan and the girl didn't know for what.

"No," answered the girl. She sounded distant. She sounded like Evan. Evanna took a small step towards the couple.

The words of the girl became muffled. The face of the boy began to clear the closer Evanna got to them. When she stood directly in front of them, the girl who wasn't her but was and the boy turned their heads to face her.
