I can totally tell that Eva has been avoiding me for days now and I mean this whole week. She doesn't come to the coffee shop as we usually do and I know that I made a mistake by cancelling on her. We promised each other no more secrets after the case of Jolene and I have this big secret that I can't even dream of telling her.
"What's up bro" Dylan greeted me as I entered his room. He was sharing this apartment with me, James and Zack.
I shrugged and sat down on the bean bag on the floor.
"What's going on with you man" James asked me laying his video game. Yeah a real sucker foe video games.
"The surprise for Eva is not turning so well" I said massaging the space between my eyebrows.
"How" Zack asks stealing from Dylan Cheetos earning him a glare.
"Well for starters I am extremely terrible at keeping secrets especially from Eva" I say and all of them nod. I send them my killer glare and they shift uncomfortable and by killer I mean the glare you send to your friends for being assholes.
"You have one week left before its over and then you can go worship at her feet" Zack said mockingly. None of them had relationships as strong as mine with Eva. Even James lost his chance with Emma. I know deep down that I'm acting out but seriously I miss Eva.
I go to the living room of the apartment. For two years now I have been organizing a party for Eva on her birthday taking different forms. So she doesn't reply guess it right. This time around I want to do it alright I mean I want to pop up the big question to her on front of the crowd. Her parents are aware and Emily had given me the go ahead even though David is still hard headed about it.
Emily assured me that it was alright and we have known each other for five years and I want to make that still counting.
"I'm going out" I yell so my friends can hear me as I move.
"Going to see Eva?" James asked.
"I don't think Emma will be there" I said smirking. We all know he still loves Emma because he is my roommate and when I come in from late dates I hear him mutter her name in his dreams.
"I wasn't asking about her" he yelled.
"Sure?" I yelled back. Like idiots in a yelling spree.
He emerges from the room and moves to the kitchen to pick a root beer before coming to me and whispering "I am over Emma and I don't want to be having this conversation with you." "I'm over her" he whispered before moving out.
"Sure?" I shout after him.
"yeah I'm sure" he says
I not only plan to proposing to Eva but bringing my egotistical friend who has ego issues to see that he still likes Emma.
I pick up the keys to my new car a Mercedes and move out. I go to that coffee shop where I usually meet Eva every morning it had been our ritual now for three years.
I enter to have a cappuccino or something when I see a red hair I can never miss. I dismiss it I mean how many girls have red hair on campus. I need to see. I move over to the nearest table luckily for me she is backing me. I definitely know it is Eva. Talking to a guy and giggling wow she is so fond of him.
I mean this is my major reason for thinking of proposing to her. Every week on our dates she gets hit on by the ticket selling guy or the guy that brought his girlfriend I mean why will I hold her so close if they ignore me.
I try to listen into their conversation but their voices are low and the coffee shop is noisy. So noisy. I stand up and turn to their table.
"Princess" I say and bend down to hug her. I feel her stiffen. Damn it Eva please assist me here I need to make sure that this guy knows you are taken.
"Xander" she says as soon as I pull out. That's a good sign she called me Xander.
"Who is this" the annoying little brat asked amused.
"hmm....yes Drake this is my.....hmm meet Henry" she stumbled on words.
"Hi" he said bringing his hands forward for me to shake "I'm Eva's friend in her Business class" he said.
"And I'm her boyfriend" I said without missing a beat. His eyes widen and he looked from me to Eva.
"She never said anything about having a boyfriend before" he said not believing me. "Eva are his words true?" he asked Eva and she shrugged.
She's driving me nuts how can she shrugged. I sat down to make it clear that I wasn't leaving anytime soon. We all sat in a silence that can make you have a fever immediately. I was staring at this Drake guy praying that he will get the hint and leave.
And he did because he stood up and mutters some awkward greeting before leaving.
"You chased my friend away" she pointed out and started gathering her things.
"I'm sorry" I said.
"For what in particular?" she breathed out.
"is it the fact that you've been acting stupidly or have you seen someone better than me, if you've seen someone better than me you wouldn't be here. Did I do something wrong, am I uglier, did I gain weight?" she asked sobbing."Where did you get this ideas from" I asked her and I saw tears in her eyes something I can't bear. "I love you no matter how you loom even if your hair is all white I will still love the hell outta you" I said holding her shaking hands.
"Why were you acting all weird" she asked sniffing.
"I promise tell you but I will tell you next week" I said holding her "Can you wait?" I asked and she nodded.
Feeling good.
