"You know, volleyball is honestly hardcore," Pete commented.

I let out a laugh, "Oh yeah?"

We were in his car hiding from the rest of the world. The game had been over for a couple hours now, and I had spent my time talking with the girls in the parking lot with their boys as well, waiting for everyone to leave.

"I'm just saying, I didn't hate it. You were like hitting people in the face, and watching those Brittany wannabes' face look absolutely devastated when they lost was entertaining," he let out a small ironic laugh, "As if they know what real pain and devisitation is."

I looked at him with a soft smile on my face. "I'm glad you didn't hate it."

He gave back a very awkward looking smile. I didn't know if it was the dark and dreary apparel or fact that I never really saw him smile before, but it caused my soft smile to turn into a large grin. I tackled him with a hug and kissed his cheek.

He turned bright red. "H-hey stop that."

I giggled more and waited for him to put an arm around me, which eventually happened. Everything was complete and total bliss until his phone vibrated. I pulled away so he could look at time, and his dreary face reappeared.

"It's Heneretta. They're waiting for me at the cafe." He kinda shrugged. "I guess I should take you home."

I frowned. "I guess so."

"(Y/N) please don't be all bummed. This is how this just has to work out," he explained.

I sighed. "I know. Wanna sneak out tomorrow?"

That awkward smile reappeared on his face. "Yeah, of course."

Yeah, I could get used to seeing that awkward smile.
