I never did find Mike that night. I was searching until four in the morning but couldn't find him anywhere. My second plan was just to find him in the gym the next morning. I went to the back of the school to drop off my shit and planned to find him after that. Well, at least, that was the plan, but when I went out there, I was surprised to see (Y/N) sitting out there, waiting.

I instantly panicked. "(Y/N), what are you doing here? Michael could be here at any minute."

"I know, but I need to talk to you. It won't be long," she smiled.

It wasn't a real smile, though. There was sadness in her voice. I could tell.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

She took a hard swallow, seeming to regret the situation she put herself in. "N-nothing," she lied, choking back on her words.  "Well- actually, a lot. Some stupid kid with vangs showed up to my window last night. He said he knew about us."

I felt my heart dropped to my feet.

"He told me that he planned to expose us and destroy the Goths forever," she explained. "Pete, I'm breaking up with you."

A pit grew in my stomach. "(Y/N), we can figure something out-"

"No we can't, Pete," she sharply cut me off. "Don't you get it? We've been trying to 'figure something out'. I'm done risking this. If we get caught, life as you know it is over-"

"I'm willing to take the risk (Y/N). You know that," I quickly responded, starting to panic.

This can't be it.

"I'm not. Look Pete, I was up all night, and I thought about it- all of it. I'm done. I love you, and I'm not willing to be the reason you become something you hate. You're a Goth, and I'm a conformist," she said with a sad smile.

"There is no changing your mind on this, is there?" I asked still holding some sort of hope.

"I'm sorry, Pete," she choked back on her words. "I just can't do this. I tried so hard, but I can't. I can't be the thing ruining your life."

I took a deep breath. "It's alright, my love. Just-just thank you for making me feel something, even if it's just pain now."

She began to sob. "I'm so sorry, Pete."

The door began to open behind us, and before I knew it, (Y/N) had just vanished, like I made the entire thing up.

I hope I made it all up...
