Chapter 8: New Friends

"Violetta, are you okay?" Leon asks, concerned. He sits down on the seat across from me and takes my hand. I quickly pull my hand away from his.

"What's wrong?" He asks.

"I-I've gotta go" I say, quickly standing up.

"Why?, What's wrong?" He says, now standing.

I ignore him and just stare at him.

"Is it because of Ludmila?" He asks, he looks upset. I shake my head.

"At least let me take you home" He says, taking a step toward me. I take a step back.

 I ignore him and pick up the bag with the outfit Leon got me, I then run out of the icecream parlour. I don't know why I'm acting this way, I'm so confused. I run as fast as I can out of the mall. What if Leon figured out I'm VGirl22 a long time ago and he's using it to find out my secrets. No, Leon wouldn't do that.....but what if he would?. I start to tear up. I don't know what to think. Suddenly I bump into someone.

"Oh I'm sorry!" A voice says.

I pick up my bag and look up. A girl with dark hair stood in front of me. I think she was Italian. She looked to be around my age.

"It's okay" I say, wiping the tears away from my eyes.

"Are you okay?" She asks, concerned about the tears in my eyes.

"Yeah" I force a smile.

"I'm Francesca" She smiles.

"I'm Violetta"

"Francesca, where are you?" Someone shouts.

"Over here!" Francesca shouts back.

A boy with tanned skin and dark wavy hair runs over.

"Hey, who's this?" He asks.

"This is Violetta" Francesca says.

The boy shakes my hand.

"I'm Diego" He smiles.

"Nice to meet you both, I've gotta go home now" I say, turning around.

"Alone?" Francesca asks.

"Yeah, I came to the mall with my boyfriend but something happened so I left" I say.

"We'll walk with you" Diego says and he walks beside me. Francesca smiles and walks too.

"So how old are you both?" I ask Diego and Francesca.

"We're both 17" Francesca says.

"Are you dating?" I ask. They both burst into hysterical laughter.

"No, I have a boyfriend. Me and Diego are just friends" Francesca finally says.

"Oh"

After what felt like forever we finally arrive at my house.

"This is your house?!" Francesca gasps.

"Yeah" I chuckle.

"It's so..big" Francesca says.

"I guess, It's been fun talking to you both" I say.

"We should exchange numbers, we should hang out again sometime" Diego smiles, Francesca nods in agreement.

We exchange numbers and say goodbye.

When I get inside I see Angie standing by the couch.

"Good luck" She says and walks away. What did she mean?. Suddenly my dad walked over to me.

"Violetta, where were you? Why didn't you go to your grandmothers house?" He says with a half relieved and half frustrated tone.

"I wanted to go buy her a gift so I begged Leon to take me to the mall to buy her something and I got nervous about seeing her so I went home" I lied.

"Why were you nervous?" He asks.

"It's just I haven't seen her in so long and-"

"I hope you're not lying to me" He cuts me off.

"I'm not" I lie again. I force a smile, walk up stairs and go into my room.

I take out my diary and begin to write in it.

"Dear Diary,

Today I found out Leon is Lion6969, I can't believe I didn't figure it out sooner. I wonder if he figured out before I did and is keeping it a secret from me?. No, that's not something Leon would do. I got so freaked out at the mall that I ran away from Leon, how awkward is that. On the bright side I made 2 new friends, Diego and Francesca. They seem nice, I hope we get to hang out again."

I stop writing and put away my diary. I lay on my bed and stare at the roof. Suddenly there was a knock on my door.

"Go away, Dad" I shout.

The door opens and Leon walks into the room. He closes the door behind him.

"Leon? What are you doing here?" I ask, instantly getting up from my bed.

"What happened today?" He asks, Ignoring my question.

"I'm VGirl22" I sigh. He just stares at me in complete disbelief. He places his hand over his mouth.

"You're gay?" He gasps.

"What, no!. Why would you think that"

"V...Girl....VGirl Va-"

"NO OH MY GOD NO, LEON" I cut him off.

He starts laughing.

"So we've been talking to each other for about 2 months now without any of us noticing" He laughs.

"It's not funny.....okay well I guess it is a bit" I laugh.

"Why did you get so freaked out?" He asks, catching his breath from his laughter.

"I was shocked, I didn't know what to think" I shrug.

He gives me a hug and then kisses me. 

"I was so worried this was about Ludmila" He says, pulling away.

"Why?" I ask.

"I didn't want you to feel jealous because of Ludmila, she means nothing to me" He says, with a sincere look on his face.

"I know" I smile.

"Well, I better go home now. I'll call you later" He says and kisses my forehead.

"Bye" I say.
