Chapter 18

Claire's Pov

I slowly came back to reality but my eyes stayed closed and I was kinda glad I kept them closed too when someone came bursting through the door into the room I was in. It was even harder not to jump at the sudden noise that scared me slightly.

"Son we need to talk about how Claire is going to find out that you will be marrying someone in a few days", that was Ethan's voice. Jasper's dad. What did he need?

"I am not marrying any other woman than Claire! I don't care about the bond between any other pack if it means I have to marry someone else", Jasper is going to be marrying someone else?

"You can't back down, you have to for the sake of you pack", by the way Ethan worded it Jasper had no other option except for going through with this marriage...

If I was awake would they still be having this conversation with me in the same room?

"Don't say anything to Claire, she doesn't need to know. She'll just get lonely and she finally got people who think of her as family", that just answered my question. No he wasn't planning on telling me, instead he was just going to up and leave without saying anything to me.

If anything he was probably going to tell me he had to leave for a few days or whatever on Alpha business.

I figured this would be a great time for me to wake up, so I made it like I was just waking up. I stirred a little bit and scrunched my eyes a bit then I slowly opened them and looked at Jasper.

"Hey beautiful, how long have you been awake?", he was doing a very good job on not saying a single thing about their conversation just before, instead he was asking me if I was awake when they were talking...

I don't want to be a burden for him, he save my life multiple times, if he had to marry someone to from another pack or whatever then I will stand aside and say nothing no matter how much it may hurt me...

"I just woke up. Why?", a slight joyful look crossed his face for a second before it disappeared again. I looked past him to look at his father.

"Hello Ethan", he insisted that I dropped formalities and just call him Ethan, so I did.

"Hello Claire, are you feeling any better?", he didn't say anything either and I could see deep down he wanted to say something but he didn't, so I didn't say anything to spark that conversation.

"Yes, much better", it was the best thing I could say at the moment, and the quickest to get out before my voice shook because of the thought of Jasper marrying someone else.

"That's good. Well I need to sort a few things out so I'll see you later", I nodded and he left me and Jasper alone in silence. Jasper moved and sat beside me and started the conversation I really hoped he wouldn't start...

"So Claire, I found out that I need to leave tomorrow for a bit for my Alpha duties. I promise I'll come back as quick as I can", called it. Alpha duties he says, but he means I have to go get married to someone for the best of the pack... Just outright say it Jasper, let me hear it for myself. But he won't...

"Ok, just try not to take so long", I put a smile on as best as I could and he believed me which was a good thing for me, last thing I need is for him to worry about me.

"Of course beautiful", we sat there for a bit before Nathan walked in and checked my vitals, he then said it was alright for me to go back home, so me and Jasper walked slowly back to our home.

The rest of the day went by quickly, we watched movies on the couch with some snacks until it was late and I was almost falling asleep on the couch.
