The Abused Mate

Chapter 22

Claire's Pov

Jasper suddenly stood up so I did the same just in case we were going somewhere or something like that.

"What are you...?", I cut myself off as I watch Jasper drop down to one knee in front of me and look up to me with those beautiful green eyes of his.

"Claire...", you could tell he was nervous. His left hand went into his pocket and came back out with a little black box in it, he faced it toward me and opened it, the ring inside was gorgeous.

"Claire, I've always known deep down that I loved you, I may have been a bit slow at figuring out we were mates but I got there in the end and now look at us. And ever since I found you at the Silver Moon pack I knew I never wanted a life without you in so I fought with everything I had and was, just to bring you home, a home that would welcome you with arms wide open...", there was tears building in my eyes at the words that were going passed his lips.

"And ever since I had brought you with me, all the days we were together I fell deeper and deeper in love with you if that was even possible. You were willing to put your life on the line for people you hadn't even known for very long because they were in danger. You've made me a better man than I would've ever imagined I could become, ever in my lifetime", he looked down for a moment and took in a breathe before continuing.

"You inspire me to push harder for my pack, our pack, and to be the best mate I could be. You've given me more than I could ask for and asked for nothing really in return, you've gone through a lot of pain and come out the other side stronger. I can't see my life without you in it by my side helping to push me through everyday with a smile on your face. So Claire , would you do me the highest honor and marry me?", at this point I was out right balling my eyes out at his touching speech, whether or not he had planned that or just thought of it on the spot, it was beautiful and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

"Yes...", my voice was no more than a whisper but Jasper heard. I extended my left hand as Jasper grabbed my hand slowly slipped the ring onto my ring finger. Before I knew it I was off the ground and being twirled around up in the air. When Jasper stopped he didn't put me down on the ground, instead he kissed me which I returned instantly.

When he put me down and looked at the ring and a thought popped into my head.

"Should I get you a ring?", I looked up to Jasper ad he smiled.

"I don't need a ring until our wedding day, I have this", he points to his shoulder under his shirt and I looked at him confused. He unbuttoned his shirt enough to pull it to the side and show me exactly where his mark was, the one I gave him. 

My cheeks went a shade of red and remembered my mark that he had given me was on full display too. Jasper just laughed.

"Do you want dessert?", my eyes meet his again and I shook my head, dinner was enough. The sizes of their dishes was a good size, any bigger and I would've exploded. Jasper pulled his phone out and texted something to someone, then he turned his gaze to me again.

"Well then, let's get out of here then", he fixed his shirt. Then he smiled before we both finished the last of our drinks, went inside to pay for our meals and drinks, then left the restaurant where we found the car we had driven here in was waiting outside for us.

We drove home and got dropped off at the front door, then the man drove away. I didn't quite want to go inside just yet.

I took my shoes off as Jasper was opening the front door, I tucked them just inside the door before I held up the front of dress so I wouldn't step on it as I ran, which I indeed did.

"Claire?! What are you...?", I ran and laughed as Jasper followed behind me. I looked behind me to see Jasper had removed his suit jacket and the buttons he had done back up at the restaurant were undone again.
