The Abused Mate

Chapter 8

Jasper's Pov

"Shut up man, you don't even know why I did it. She needed something to snap her out of what she was doing alright?!", man I know I said I didn't care what they would say but this just kinda annoyed me, I see him kissing his mate all the time and I say nothing. But then his tone of voice changed for some reason.

"Did you really just say that? What the hell man?!", well obviously, what is he getting at?!

"Leo I'm sure it didn't mean anything in the way you're taking it", my sister turned to Leo.

"I'm sure my son meant no ill meanings when he said that"

"Oh really, think it over Jasper. And think hard about how other people could take what you're saying", his tone didn't change.

"I have no idea what you're getting at Leo. I kissed her to snap her out of her panic attack", as I finished that sentence Claire was out of the room running, I was shocked. I went to go after her but Leo stopped me.

"Don't even think about it, it's because of you that she ran, even I knew how she took what you said and I'm not her mate", his fist then connected with my left cheek and he ran out the room in the same direction Claire did. And left me on my ass on the floor.

What the hell did he mean? She ran because of me? In that moment I felt what I never wanted to feel from her, I felt her sadness, she was sad? Crying? What for though? I have no bloody idea! Think Jasper, what did you say to make her upset!?

"Sis, you knew what Leo was getting at didn't you?!" she looked at me for a moment then dropped her gaze to the ground.

"Tell me what he was getting at, please", my own gaze dropped to the ground too.

"He... He was saying that what you said sounded like you didn't actually want to kiss her to begin with. And that you said it right in front of her made it even worse because that's the way she took it, why she ran.", what?! I didn't mean any of that?!

'You screwed up, idiot!' my wolf spoke but I didn't care, I need to make it right, I didn't mean any of that, I mean what I said was right but not how she took it...

"Go make it right, before it's too late", I ran out the room and was gone out the house looking for Claire, for my mate.

Claire's Pov

"He didn't mean it, I know he loves you. He just should've picked a better way for what he said. I didn't care that he kissed you, I was just teasing him. He'll be here any moment now coming to apologize. I'll go when he gets here, so you two can work things out.", Leo was talking and then looked at me and said in a half good tone, half serious tone.

"But I don't want you back in that house unless you've worked things out ok?", I sighed but nodded I wanted to work things out, I couldn't leave even if I wanted too, because a part of me didn't want to leave and I wasn't talking about my wolf. Me and Leo talked for a solid 5 minutes and I felt better.

Leo got up and muttered under his breath, "He's here" and backed up, looked at me and winked, then left. And a moment later Jasper broke through the trees and looked at me. My mouth opened a bit when I saw the swollen left cheek, and when his eyes fell on mine a tear left his eyes.

"Claire...", his voice broke and so did my heart at the sound.

"Ah... I should go, I don't want to be in your way, I guess I was still here just to let you know I love y...you. Well I'll be off", before I could even move he was in front of me and his lips were on mine again. Kiss after kiss, deeper and deeper the kiss got, until we had to break away to breath. He pressed his forehead to mine and spoke.

"I love you, please don't leave me. I didn't mean to say what I did the way I did. Please just stay with me. I love you Claire and I can't think straight with you not at my side...", tears slide down my cheeks at what he said. 

I looked up at him and he looked at me, then gently pressed a kiss to my lips, a soft sweet kiss compared to the other ones he's given me today. When he pulled away I leaned in and lightly bit his right ear, he jumped a little and his hand went up to his ear while I pulled away from him.

"That's for what you said, you're lucky I was being nice and only bit lightly, because what you did hurt a lot more", I was barely whispering near the end of my sentence but he heard anyway.

"I know, I'm sorry", he hugged me again.

"Should we go back now? It's getting dark.", Jasper went to get up and help me up, but I didn't want to leave here just yet, it was nice here, so I shook my head.

"I don't want to leave just yet, I want to stay for a bit longer, and watch as the stars come out.", and ever so silent that I even thought I mouthed the words...

"Just the two of us..." and then all I hear from beside me was Jasper laughing.

"Of course. All you have to do is ask", then he lay down beside me and looked up at me waiting for me to make my move. So I slide down a bit and lay down beside him with his arm under my head as we looked up at the sky waiting for the stars to start shining through the dark sky.

We stayed there for another hour and a half looking at the stars before we went back to the house. When we climbed into bed Jasper said something that froze me.

"I think we should go to school again next week, by then your wounds should be healed"
