C H A P T E R - T E N
When you love a woman, you listen to her. You listen to what has hurt her, what has bruised her heart and you accept it whether you understand it completely or not. You accept it and you respect it. Most men don’t feel things as deeply as women do. So just because you don’t, doesn’t negate your responsibility to protect that part of her that does. When she shares pain from her past... LISTEN and refrain from making her endure it again by your own hand. If you love her, protect the remaining shards of her heart that she has entrusted you with. Don’t turn them on her and use them as a weapon to stab her with.

About thirty five minutes later, we reached our destination. Which was inside a big underground parking lot of the office building of our new work place for next few months. The ride till here was in complete silence. None of said anything. He was either busy in looking at front or at the GPS tracker attached to the car system which was giving us instructions about the direction of our supposed destination. And I was busy looking out of the window, staring at the passing by trees, houses then buildings respectively as we drive through the main town to business sector area.
"We reached", Amaan spoke breaking the silence between us. I nodded taking my bag from back seat. But when I was about to open my side of door, Amaan held my arm. "Kavya listen", he said calmly.
"Hmmm?", I asked facing him.
"This place is new for you... I mean for both of us. So please don't go anywhere without me, or without telling me. And please, be attentive. Don't talk to any strangers, any suspicious people, or whatever, you get me right?", he said in gentle tone.
I didn't respond, just nodded silently, not saying anything at all. I just can't promise him something I'm not sure I'm going to keep. And neither can I say direct no to him. We had such a nice morning together, without any arguments or anything. And I don't want to ruin it by opening my stupid mouth. So it was better to just nod mutely.
And with that I open the door and climbed out of the car. He followed suit, locking the door behind us, and together we made our way inside the building through the back elevator of the parking lot.
Getting inside the empty elevator, my eyes scanned the floor numbers. It says fifteen floors. And Amaan had punched the digital buttons for first floor only. Probably for the reception area.
Not even a minute later, we were standing inside the huge but busy office lobby.
I look all around. The whole building was made of glass with white marbles underneath and wooden structure ceiling. In front of us a big sitting area with multiple light grey couches, then the reception desk after we cross the sitting area. Every corner of the floor was decorated with different kinds of decorative plants in dark red pots. There was a set of stairs to one side of the floor. And another elevator to another side which was made of glass. The main entrance was exactly opposite to the reception desk where we stood.
A young lady sat behind the dark green reception desk, smiling politely at us when she saw us approaching her.
"How can I help you, both?", she asked with overly wide red lipstick clad lips, giving her full attention to Amaan. She was wearing dark blue plated saari with the name tag Latika Verma pinned to one side of her chest.
I rolled my eyes at her over friendly smiling gesture at Amaan's direction.
"We are here for the interview with Mr Khurana about the internship program", Amaan said in his cold authoritative tone.
