**Andrew**

I stood tall beside my father in my best clothes. Normally, I didn't have to dress up but since it was a ball, it only made sense. My heart skipped a beat as I saw her walk with her mother and father to make the welcome announcement. It was only because she looked so much like Desmia, especially when she was wearing one of Desmia's dresses and her tiara. Her hair was curled in ringlets, pinned, and cascading down her back. Her skin was flawless ivory with a slight rosy blush on her cheeks, her eyes glittered with excitement. The dress was a shiny satin that shimmered with sparkles and it had a small silk rose accent on the neckline. And a sheer wrap around shawl rested on her shoulders. She looked stunning. I missed the way the dress had looked on Desmia, but Serena was her look-alike so it was almost the same as looking at Mia. Almost. There were the slight differences that only I or other people who knew Desmia the best would take the time to notice. She shot a nervous glance my way and I smiled encouragingly. Queen Maria said a few things but I wasn't paying too close attention to it. My eyes were wandering around the big hall. From the stain glass windows that have been there for hundreds of years to the breathtaking crystal chandeliers suspended from the ceiling.

I had danced with numerous girls, some of them really pretty and nice while others were kind of rude. I saw Serena in the distance with a prince and she didn't look very comfortable. "Excuse me," I say to the girl I was currently talking to. I make my way over to Serena and when I sweep her away, leaving him with another girl who looks very excited to see him, to say the least.

"Thank you." she says as we dance for a little.

"You're welcome." I say as I spin her around. I can feel the boy glaring at me, he's burning a hole in my back. "Do you want some fresh air?" I ask and she smiles and nods. We walk outside into the royal garden and courtyard together. She takes a seat on the edge of the large fountain. I take the seat beside her. She looks up at the sky and then she grabs my arm.

"Look, it's a shooting star!" she says, pointing.

"Make a wish." I say back. She closes her eyes and whispers something low enough that I don't quite catch it. She opens her eyes."What did you wish for?" I ask, curiously.

She rolls her eyes. "I can't tell you; if I do, it won't come true." I pout and she giggles. 'You're it!" she says and begins to run. It takes me a moment to comprehend what she just said.

"Not for long!" I yell and begin to chase after her. Eventually, I stop because I've lost sight of her and I look all around me. "Where did you go?" I wonder aloud. Suddenly, I feel two hands squeeze my shoulders lightly and I hear a melodic voice softly whisper, "Here!"

We walk together for a while, just talking. When I come to a stop. "What are you doing?" she asks, turning around. I walk back a few paces and crouch down by the flowers. I scan them, and then caress a petal softly. I pick it and stand up again. I walk back to Serena and present her with the flower; a yellow rose with a red tip. She grasps it and smiles down at it. I gently take it back, rip part of the stem off and tuck the flower behind her left ear, brushing a few strands of her hair back. I give her a light smile and she's blushing.

"Do you like it?" I ask her. She beams at me.

"I love it, Andrew. Thank you." she breathes. We find ourselves standing underneath a trellis with twinkle lights wrapped around it. Fireflies fill the open air and Serena's eyes are bright as she takes in all the beauty around us. But what she doesn't know is that she's the center of it. The center of all the beauty right now. She looks back at me now, noticing that I've been staring at her this whole time. She smiles at me and I cradle her face between my hands and give her a small kiss on the lips, soft like a whisper and light like a butterfly's wings.

**Desmia**

I've been trapped in here for days now, I think. Time passes differently when you can't see anything of the outside world. I have no sense of how many days have passed. My light has been faltering like Andrew's was. I spend my days trying to think of escape plans, and what I must do when I get out of here. I've decided that I have to get back to my dimension, find Andrew, come back here, and end the war together. The days in here have increased my aching need for Andrew to be here, to listen to me. I miss him so much it hurts, and I've never felt like this. I've never had to. I was a princess, most princesses didn't have to spend time in jail. Most princesses got whatever they wanted, when they wanted it. I sighed as I sang softly to myself again. One of the songs that I always heard in the kingdom, my mother used to sing it to me before I fell asleep. It had been passed down for generations.

"Dancing bears, painted wings,

Things I almost remember.

And a song, someone sings

Once Upon a December.

Someone holds me safe and warm,

Horses prance through a silver storm.

Figures dancing gracefully,

Across my memory."  I sing quietly to myself.

Shinies appear all around me, lighting up the cell. One holds my hand and I begin to get stronger again. I smile radiantly as I see Caroline gaping through the cell window in horror. One of the closest Shinies sings the second verse with me.

"Far away, long ago,

Glowing dim as an ember.

Things my heart used to know,

Things it yearns to remember.

And a song, someone sings;

Once Upon A December." We finish and they all leave me alone again, but giving me strength to continue on.

A/N: Yayy I finished another one!! I can't take credit for the song at the end, it's from the Disney movie; Anastasia. Since I can't do two videos for multimedia, here's the link to the Once Upon A December; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPEkXswWU38 And the real song on the right: A Single Rose by Brian Crain, the title of the composition inspiring the title of the chapter. Lol the picture on the right: Serena/Desmia's dress from the ball. It took me forever to find a dress I liked. Does anyone know what the rose color means that Andrew gave Serena? Hmmm... Oh yeah, it means friendship and or falling in love. <3 I hope you guys liked the chapter, vote&comment&fan. Thank you, see you sooonnn. Love, Ash xoxo

Next Update: Soon haha

Things to be Explained: Okay, next chapter will fast forward making Andrew, Serena, and Desmia 18 years old now... Desmia was in the other dimension all the time. :O Does Andrew love Serena and Desmia? Does Desmia or Serena feel the same? How will Desmia get out of her conflict? Will Andrew even remember Desmia after all this time? Will the Shinies or the Shadows win their war? Lots of things will be happening soon. ;)
