A/N: Soo someone is going to die in this chapter... My original idea isn't going to happen so someone that's not as important as the original idea is going to die... Without further adieu, enjoy!

Desmia~

We had been at the camp for about three days tops. Everything was going well; I had told everyone about the lockets and Riley promised that we would set off in search of them as soon as his wife had the baby. We didn't want her to strain herself or anything like that. So we stayed camping and the rest of us took turns scouting the woods around us. We found out that shadows surrounded the wood, and if you got too close to one, they would try to drain all of your good memories so they could feed off of all your mistakes. It had happened to Andrew and he told us to think of the most important thing to us if it happened. Something that you love with all of your heart. Riley's wife, Juliet, wanted to go for a walk so I was accompanying her, looking thoughtfully at all the beautiful wildlife here. It was stunning how something could be so wonderful and beautiful.

Eventually, Juliet started to get tired and we walked back to the site. I went into the tent that Riley and Samuel had made that had our weapons and supplies in it. I picked up the bow and arrow in one hand, testing it's weight. It seemed like it would work well enough for what I knew. Which was barely anything. I knew the basics, but not much more than that. I ran into the woods with the bow and the quiver, looking for some game. I looked quietly around me and decided I needed a better view. I made my way up the tree trunk and crouched down on one of the limbs. Of course, this wasn't exactly the best stance for archery, in fact, it was completely wrong. But I pulled one of the arrows out anyway and nocked in on the bow. I sighed, breathing in deeply. I rose the bow and drew back when I saw what I was looking for, it was a doe. I aimed and kept it drawn back for a moment longer. Then I released and the arrow flew down, hitting the doe just in the right place.

Perfect shot. I hopped from branch to branch, making my way back down. I grabbed my prize and carried it back to the camp site. Most of the time, I didn't get a perfect shot like that and especially not one that was a doe. This was good, we would have left overs. And plenty to eat. Riley took it from me to prepare it for dinner as I went to the nearby stream to clean off the arrow. After I was done with that, I put the bow back and went to play with the little ones.

They were sitting around in a circle, listening to Rosalind and Margarette's stories. "Will you tell us about how the war is supposed to end again, Rosie?" Garrett asked excitedly and I could feel everyone start to listen a little more as they began to tell how the warrior princess was supposed to come and find the three lockets. She needed to find two loyal friends who would die for her and together, they would wear the lockets and summon the rest of the Shinies. They would take each other's hand and-- a scream cut Rose off and all of our eyes snapped to wear the scream came from.

There was nothing there, I heard a greedy sucking noise and I ran into the green of the trees. In it, I saw Juliet with a Shadow clinging to her. "Think of a good memory!" I yelled at her. A scream resounded through the woods again as she struggled against the Shadow's grip.

"Go help her!" Riley shouted at me.

"I can't!" I yelled back. "Then we'll both die!" I added, anxiously. Riley looked at me, his eyes wide and scared. He didn't want her to die, he loved her. And she was pregnant. I looked back into Riley's eyes, was it worth it? Of course it was. I ran over and jumped on the Shadow, wrapping my arms around it's neck. It made a gagging sound but continued too feed off of Juliet. Her tortured screams got quieter and less pronounced as I continued to be thrashed around. A few moans escaped her lips and then she fell limp in its arms. He dropped her lifeless body on the ground, shaking me off of him. The Shadow leaned over my face and a few mistakes and the trapped feeling of being in that cell flashed through my mind.

"Stop it!" I heard Andrew yell and he threw himself at us too.

"Andrew, no!" I cried but he was already over here with a sword that he had grabbed. He slashed it through the Shadow and it evaporated in front of us.He cradled my face and searched my eyes.

"Are you alright?" he asked quietly, his eyes wide and terrified.

"I'm fine, Andrew. Don't ever do something so reckless again though." I murmured.

"I had to." he retorted and I rolled my eyes.

"No, you don't." I say back. Just then I realized that Juliet was still dead behind us. A tear glistened as it fell down my cheek. I looked at Riley and he nodded. Proper burial.

"Andrew, go get a shovel and then started digging. Samuel, clear her wounds and make sure she looks semi-normal. Rosalind and Margarette, take the children to go pick flowers for her. Riley and I need to talk." I say and everyone nods their heads.

I hugged Riley as he leaned his head against my shoulder, sobbing gently. I rubbed small circles on his arm and gently whispered in his ear that she was in a better place now and that she was safe. We would win this war for her. Eventually, he stopped crying and through my whole speech, my voice only cracked a few times. He gave me a large hug. "Thank you for all that you've done for us, Desmia." he whispered in my ear and I nodded against his shoulder.

"You're welcome." I whispered back.

We buried Juliet and said some words for her. The children decorated the grave with all of the flowers they collected and afterward, Riley made dinner for the rest of us. It was delicious, I had made a good catch and everyone was thanking me for it. I just blushed and modestly said it was no big deal. We all laid on our backs, taking in the lovely night sky. It's stars, sparkling in the distance. As we watched, a meteor shower started and Benjamin, Heather, and Garrett started to make wishes out loud, but then soon, all we heard was their soft snores. I smiled at Andrew and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Good night, Andrew." I whispered almost inaudibly.

"Sweet dreams, Mia." he whispered back, kissing my forehead and pulling me closer to him.

A/N: Heyy, I feel bad for killing her but it couldn't continue on the perfect happy path. The original idea was to kill Andrew, and I couldn't even bear to do that so I needed to change that. I hope you liked this chapter even though it was short, and I will try to update soon. Remember to VOTE and COMMENT and FAN!!!!!!! =D I love you guys, thanks for supporting me. <3 Until next time, Ashton x's&o's. Song on the right: Gone Too Soon by Simple Plan because it mentions shooting stars and I think that fits and it's also most likely how Riley feels about Juliet. ):
