Desmia~

"Welcome back." she said with a sugar sweet smile. I scowled back at her. She cocked an eyebrow at me. "Why so angry?" she asked, an amused smile on her face.

"Hmm... I wonder. I was just trapped in a prison cell for eight whole years. Not once seeing the sunlight. That doesn't seem bad at all." I say sarcastically.

"Oh, you had my brother. Don't think I didn't hear about your escape and how it happened." she said scathingly.

"I did what I had to do." I retorted stiffly.

"Well, good luck with your 'quest'. You should just join me, together we can rule this dimension. You can be a queen here and there. You'll have so much power, Mia." she said, her voice lustful at the thought of having supreme power.

"Never in a million years, Caroline. And only my friends call me Mia." I say icily. Her eyes widen, as if she's in shock.

"We are friends, Mia." she states.

"No, we used to be friends. Now we're not. Stop calling me that." she looks hurt, but I know better. I hear a soft sob as she disappears, almost like she evaporated.  I looked to the beautiful mermaid in the water.

"You've found the first locket." she breathed airily. I looked down at it, fastened around my neck; nestled in the hollow of my throat.

"Now what do I do though?" I ask her impatiently.

"The other two mermaids have long gone, they've forgotten all about our quest to save the Shinies. But I haven't. I still come here every night, in the hope of guiding a young Shiny to save us. You have grown since you first started on this mission, I can see it in your eyes. The second locket is mine, so the safest place for it to be is around my own neck. And now, I pass it on to you. Only the bond of true loyalty and friendship can make the lockets work. Now you have two." she said in her light voice. The locket slid off of her throat and floated into my hand. "Here is your clue. The lost city falls, in great despair. Only one can help, for they know the way there. You must follow your intuition and heart. For those who don't wish you to succeed will try to tear you and your loved ones apart. You must release the warrior from it's cage. A glitter or sparkle will catch your eye. But you must destroy it, despite the cries. Once you do this, you just have to think. And then there will only be one missing link."

I puzzled over this in my mind. I had already memorized it, so that wouldn't be a problem. "For once, I wish you would just say, 'Go here. This is how you save the world. Do it and then you can go back to your own dimension and live happily ever after.'  " I scoff. She rolls her eyes at me.

"That would be way too easy." she says as she dives back into the water before I can have another word.

Next step: Find Andrew, and apologize.

Andrew~

It's been days since I've had any food. All I have had was some water from a stream. I had tried to hunt but I wasn't used to it. So I gave up quickly. I promised myself that as soon as I got home, I would learn. So that I would be able to fend for myself in a situation such as this. I heard a rustle in the leaves and I turned. I thought I saw some dark bronze ringlets but my vision became slightly blurred and then there was nothing there when my sight came back into focus.

Desmia~

I thought I had seen him. But my eye-sight failed me and when it came back, there was nothing there. I knew he was in the wood somewhere though. I saw his footprints on the ground near where I was standing. And they were fresh so they couldn't have been from that long ago. "Andrew!" I called, hoping I'd get a response.
